You got 155 for it on ebay, damn maybe I need to sell mine

I got one of those 3 piece ones too but its on my 85. I also got one of those IMSA whale tails from Pacifica, id bet it would catch a hefty price tag...Since its not made anymore

check out junk yards... I've seen tons of spoilers around here. I asked about it once, they wanted 50 bucks. and that's candian!

But I'll be honest, mazda could have come up with a nicer spoiler design. My opinion ofcoarse. No offense to anybody with the spoiler.

I have to agree with Jimmy54....1st gen. lip spoilers just don't look rightous....And that "Whale-tail" thing is silly lookin'....My opinion, and not meant to offend, or critizise muh fellow Cowboys...

Given the short rear-deck design almost all lip spoilers don't do much to enhance the looks of a 1st gen, unlike a 2nd gen which looks great with a factory lip spoiler. That's the secondary reason as to why I went with a wing. The wing visually stretches the rear-end making it look longer than it really is thereby enhancing the appearence.....Again, my opinion, and I'm just an 'ol Cowboy, sharin' a crowded garage with an nasty 'ol cat...Shoot, which is better, a six-point wrench or a twelve-point? What is it about spinnin' triangles over steam-engine based boingers? What? What? Go away, Son. Yuh bother me......mumble, mumble....

A tip of the Stetson,
Denny

Actually..

Does anyone know where I can get this Lip Spoiler?
It actually a 3 Piece spoiler, not a single one.
(Sorry guys, I like this one, not wings on 1st Gens)

I used to know a guy who made a mold out of it, but I don't know
where he is today.

Thanks to John Linihan's site, you can see a few more
pictures of it here

Please let me know...

Thanks!

David said he sold one for 155 on ebay, and you know they arent made anywhere, or at least I thought they werent...

I might be persuaded to remove the whale tail one I have and sell it, but the 3 piece I'll have to leave on my 85, there were some big holes drilled in the car

Spoilers on a 1st gen don't look so right. I see alot where I am and it looks like the car is getting punished. But we all have our opinions and thats cool. I just have one thing to add is...its like slapping one of those brama bulls stickers on the side of that car

I really like a spoiler on the rear of a 1st gen as long as it aint one of those gawdy awful looking aluminum spoilers, it doesnt have a place on anything but a pro street car etc

I don't have a spoiler yet.... the back bumper was the first thing I wanted to change... now that thats done.. spoiler time!! I love the look of the adjustable aluminum spoilers... I have to check out the deferent styles.. but I want something along the lines of a Nissan Skyline type spoiler. After that I must tackle the back lights. Supra tail lights would look wicked... but fear of rx7 fanactic's freaking out has posponed my work. A rear mustang bumper caused quite a stir when I bought up the idea, but I did it!! Alot of people thought it looked good.

according to Jim's site that's the Targa 7 spoiler, which I guess was some obscure option along with the front air dam. Mazdatrix makes replica copies that are almost, but not quite like the Targa 7 options.

And on another note, Jim! you have the same license plate on your GSL-SE that I have on my GSL-SE

heh

I think spoilers on a 1st gen look like ****. Front or back, it doesn't matter. Mazda did such a wonderful job to redesign both the front and back of the RX-7 for the 81 model year. The real spoiler ruins the flow (the taillight panel went from the car's ugliest styling feature to possibly its most attractive one). And the front nose is so sweet too -- Why add those bulky air dams? And don't get me going on rear window louvers.... Change the wheels (the stock alloys do look tired) and that's about all they need to look better than just about anything on the road today!

Yes it is. It has more of a curve into it to properly fit the RX-7 lines.
It was originally offered by Mazda as part of the accessories or "IMSA" package.

Up close it really looks awesome compared to every other aftermarket one, as the fit and finish is superb.
