i just bought a 1984 mazda rx7 about a month ago(GSL)...
its absolutly beautiful...white with the red interior, interior is flawless painted a yr ago...new exhaust , new white letter tires and all new suspention...and a few other new things...160 000klms on it..i got it off buddy for 900$...when i bought it it had one problem...only running off the front rotor...he told me it was only something minor with the electrical...so i took his work for it...it was a steal for 900 bux running on one rotor or not as far as im concerned...its in beautiful shape...so im not very machanically inclined as it is...but me and my father troubleshooted everything we could possibly think of or do ourselves...couldnt solve it.. so i said well im just ganna have to get it done by a machanic...there is absolutly not one machanic in my home town that works on rotary engines...so im in some big trouble here...i luv this car im dieing to get it on the road and drive it...so my last hope is to see if i can get some good answers from u guys...wat could be the problem? plZZZ HELP haha...if i cant figure it out my only option left is to buy a piston engine and replace the rotary engine...which i reALLLLy really do not want to doo....
sorry for being so long here haha im just in dessperate need of help as yous can see
THx, oooyaaa..p.s, ahha.. it is getting spark and gas, we tested the coils they seem to be working fine...its just the rear rotor thats not working...

Means you need an overhaul. Apex seal stuck or shot is what it is. Recommend to see if someone in your area has a used motor for sale.

I don't know what area of Canada your are in since i'm nothing familar. However' i'm sure that there must be someone within shipping range that you can get a motor. As far as V8 swaps, im dead against them but that's just me. And if your mechanical skills are not up to speed you will find the swap out of your reach. There are threads about v8 swaps and alot of guys that can give you info on the forum if you decide to go that route.

Here is what you should do:

Pull your fuel pump fuse
Pull your leading (bottom) spark plug on rotor #2
turn your motor over
count how many "woosh's" there are.
If there are 3, your motor has compression
if there is only 1, your motor has:
stuck apex seal
blown apex seal
If this happens, get a legnth of vynal hose, a funnel, and a quart of ATF. Pour some (2-3 oz) ATF in the motor through the trailing (top) plug hole, put your plug back in, turn it 1/3 of a turn with a ratchet and a socket, remove plug, pour more ATF in, replace plug, turn 1/3 turn clockwise, remove plug, pour more ATF in. put your plug back in. let it sit overnight. turn the motor over half a dozen times, let it sit 'til just before you go to bed. turn it over again. do this for a few days. pull your plugs, have a buddy hold a rag over the plug holes, and turn the motor over with your ratchet first, then with the starter. Use some electronic cleaner to clean off your plugs. If you hear three woosh's on housing 2 spinning with your starter, you're good to go. If not, you may need a new motor. Pull off your thermal reactor (exhaust manifold) and shine a light into the exhaust ports. turn over the motor with your ratchet and check if all 3 apex seals are in tact. if they aren't, your motor is toast.

If you get three "woosh's":
Check for spark
check to make sure your rear housing is getting fuel

You need three things for a motor to run:
Fuel
Spark
Compression

If your plugs are shot, you won't get spark on the rear housing
Check your wires if you aren't getting any spark on the rear housing
Make sure that your wires are hooked up correctly
(L1 goes to the bottom plug on the ffront rotor, T1 goes to the top plug on the front rotor, L2 goes to the bottom plug on the back rotor, T2 goes to the top plug on the back rotor)

Good Luck.

Do a compression test first to determine if there is anything going on in the rear housing, and to determine the condition of the front housing. You do it just like a piston engine, except you pull the Schrader valve out of the tester so the gauge will reset after each bump.

If you still cant get anything out of it after trying the ATF trick, its not hard to pull the exhaust manifold off and visually inspect the apex seals by looking into the exhaust ports. That will tell you for sure,if the seals are shot to hell, and whether you need a whole engine,or just have a LOT of internal de-carbonizing to do.
If the seals are all munched up...then stop running the engine.By running it,youll just be tearing everything to hell in the back housing, which will turn possibly re-usable parts into junk. This increases the cost of a rebuild because more new/used parts will have to be sourced to build a complete, replacement engine.
