randomlly today someone asked if i wanted to sell my rx7... i was thinkin about sellin my car minus the engine or maybe even with it ...

but i was wondering what i should ask for both.........


what i have:

85 gsl:

tan exterior ( fairly nice.. waxes up real nice)
brown interior
( nice dash no cracks and no holes in the seats very little fading)
new tires with less than 500 miles
brand new plugs and wires(mazda life times)
new distributer
brand new window motors... ( one installed)
new window regulators ( not installed)
new window tint
good weather stripping
automatic tanny ( horrible huh?)
miles>>>> 235,300 (just beginning to break it in

as for the engine and stuff

installed in 1992 i think by previouse original owner
13b 4port
streetported
RB header
RB muffler

problem blows alot of smoke when first starts and sometime takes abit to get it started but after that runs fine

most likely needs a re-build haha since it has close to 155,000+

anyways i was wondering what i should ask for the car with or with out the engine.............

any help would be good.........

I'd say $1500 with the motor and $1,000 without, but everybody's opinion is different. Sell it for whatever it's worth to you, not to someone else.

 

what kind of car are you going to buy if you sell it?

 

Is it just me, the picture, or is that thing really sitting that low on the driver's side?

 

1500 was about what i had in mind,,but still open to opinion

i only truely want to sell the car and get a84 or 85 gsl-se or gsl with less miles and rebuild my motor to be put in it....

but if i were to sell the whole car id be looking for another rx7 anyways
possible a nice turbo II but in arizona they are impossible to find just as a nice low mile 1st gen..... and those who have them have been asking way to much..... like double the blue book value.... even though are cars in good condition are becoming more rare

and as for it sitting low on the drivers side i dunno what to tell ya...im not a fat *** and i went and looked at it right now and its sittin pretty level... haha so who knows

haha i hope you dont think thats my set up................ that what i wish i had... but direct was nice enough to show it too us...ask himif he knows the guy....

id like tohave the bonnet too cuase i have enough parts( minus the IC and piping.... and lil stuff but i have enough old turbos chillin in my dads back yard to where i think i could set one up........



the POINT of this thread though is to help me find a price to sell my ride with or wiht out engine... ther is 236,000+ on the car... 150+ on the engine ... which will need a re-build in the new future...

If that dude offered you $1500 WITH FULL KNOWLEDGE OF IT NEEDING A REBUILD then take the money.

If you "forgot" to mention that, shame on you. Yeah, it does make it harder to sell (that's why there's still a dead FC in my backyard...) but as an automotive cult we prefer to be fair to each other. I don't mean to dis you, rollin82, but if you've ever been ripped off you'll know where I'm coming from.

An alternative is what I chose for my FC: rebuild the motor yourself, then sell it. You should gather that $1500 plus cover your rebuild costs, and gain experience besides.

 

The car is not worth $1000 in my opinion, more like 500 without an engine. The body has 235K on it and parts are going to need replacing soon.

 

this is what i came up with : might i add this is ruff

body: 300

tires: 250 (BRAND NEW with less then 200 miles)

stereo: 250 (nice sony deck and wires pre ran for amps and a custom hidden enclosure for a 8 inch woofer)

800 if you cant add haha

i dont really now what my engine would be worth

13b 4port which is street ported and has a RB header was bought and installed by mazdatrix in the early 90s or sumthing by the original owner

the engine has about 150,000+ and could use a rebuild.... im still open to see how much it would cost to rebuild it or ask for it if i was to sell the engine
