Need some advice, i searched i promise

I've owned my FC vert for about 3 years and looked for a nice dd and i couldn't see myself getting anything other than this 5 letter 85.

Lets just say I've been crossing stuff off the list on minor fixes to get it road worthy.

I have a slight wiring problem I have to correct because of the past PO's. A fuel pump cut off switch, they used the Black w/ white stripe wiring under the dash using speaker wire to the switch... but I plan on soldering the black/white wire back together but the issue is all the warning lights stay on with the switch on. Now i have to trace down what else has been botched in the wiring, in which I don't see any. Do you think they jump'ered a relay? or maybe its stuck?

Second, Fuel tank is pretty shot, found maybe 50 pin holes without fully stripping the outside of the tank, and the baffle is half rusted off. I'm all about sourcing a decent replacement 84-85 in anyway better shape. Am i willing to wait that long? not really..

I would like to hear or see any success stories of similar circumstances, anything from a fuel cell modified for oe sending unit, oe style filler neck (at least that's my idea so far). Or a DIY POR tank seal job, but im skeptical since the tank does have large holes, anywhere from 1/2" to 1". I only found 2 but who knows how many more are lurking. Felt kinda ill about it so i stopped
I was going to check out local places and see if they will/can restore my swiss cheese tank.

take the tank out, fill it with water to just below the level of the holes (to get the fuel vapors out) and weld the holes....If you want to take it a step further, cut out a section on the top so you clean up the rest of the inside then weld it closed when your done.
