Need a replacement motor

Hey All,
Han an "issue" with my RX-7 Monday. Did a compression test and now have none on the rear rotor. Was running great, got half way to work and motor started making abnormal sounds, and instantly noticed next to no power. Towed home and did the test.
My question for everyone is, does anyone know of a yard here in the Northwest that has good motors cheap? I live in Eugene OR, and a lot of the yards I call have no idea what a rotary engine is. Mine is a 84 GSL with a 12a. Any help would be greatly appriciated!

12a's aren't terribly hard to rebuild, it would probably be easier just to tear it down and replace what needs to be replaces than go to a bone yard where you don't know the internal condition of the motors there.

I have seen several gasket re-build kits out there on some sites. Any recommendations? How about a how-to manual? I have the Chilton book but are there better ones out there?

rebuild

If you live in the North West Region

I'd just call Atkins Rotary they are first of all ,very honest with prices and dont give any vague promises. My 12-A ported I got from them 2 years ago was well worth the price (as I test Dog it just about every day with a turbo setup....)
Im not saying the other vendors here are bad by a long shot. Im only saying I've been very happy with my Atkins Engine and have recommended them ever since

If you are mechanically inclined and not hesitant try rebuilding it yourself!! like the other guys sugested It will make you LOVE your Rotary a little more!!

good luck with your car!!

Note to everyone!! Jolly rancher watermellon candy is more addictive than crack!!

In my sig line is a link to the online FSMs. Download and read the 85 edition and see if you think you're up to attempting a rebuild. Since you lost compression on all 3 faces of the rear rotor, you will most likely need at least 1 rotor and housing. Rebuilding a rotary isn't nearly as hard as a piston engine. A full rebuild kit will run $8-900 for a 12A. Pick up one of the rebuild videos/dvds, I have the Rotary Aviation one but buy all my engine parts from Atkins.
