practically speaking, no.

unless you knew someone who could machine a set of hubs for you, or maybe modify the 4 lug hugs to a 110 pattern, but that would be still $$ and difficult to get right.

yes, mounting the sway bar forward gives it more leverage to bend the body

It's actually bending up in the middle like a banana. The fender gap is almost zero at the bottom of the doors and 1/4-1/2" at the top...

Maybe the fact that I don't have a rollcage is affecting things, yeah? You can easily deflect the underbody channels a LOT just by trying to pry the exhaust heat shields off. The car is an origami of bent sub-22 gauge sheetmetal held together with not quite enough spot welds.

at least out west FBs are still uber cheap.
Yeah, checking Cleveland craigslist, there actually were a few, including a rolling shell with a Granny's subframe for only $700 (no pics) but most were in the $3000-5000 range. Bleah. But that's fine since I expect to tow 200-500 miles when I buy a car. (You saw the GTI I bought, yeah?)

GTI? no! did you see the coupe GT special build i found : )

well i can tell you that with a cage, both mine and matt's FB rally cars start to tear at the floor (i had a 14" long tear in the sheet metal) from the action of the "four" link system on the body.

That's why I have the three link

Yes, I saw your SB. Much jealous. My friend Jonathan shoved an NG into his Coupe GT and said the difference was shockingly dramatic. Amazing what difference another 5% displacement, two points in compression, a hotter cam, 40mm vs. 38mm intake valves, and a better intake manifold can do... (But other than that, there's no difference right?)

GTI is here: Okay guys, list everything wrong with this picture: with a BUNCH of pics at my Photobucket account: General Teutonic Instigations Photos by SPRTUSA | Photobucket

Yeah, I flat towed the sucker home with a GC Impreza with required blue paint and rally lights.

It's really time for a new shell but FBs have gotten retarded-expensive.
Not seeing where you see that... I get on craigslist and such see them all the time. Shame I side step them cause Im out of room. Case in point: one on craigslist now louisville, KY area... S3 complete car just needs carb work and a fuel pump (yeah right - we know that means bad motor) but it looks like a decent car and has SE wheels on it but a 12A... No idea if its a 'true' SE but I guess just suspension swap. Theres also a 88 GXL I'd like to have on there. I'm honestly considering buying it just cause I need a few things and I dislike my neighbor. That car - front yard and jack stands out to do the trick. Both cars around $600 ish

There was a really nice 83 with a bad engine on there a week or so ago. Asking $500 then fell to $400 it past its time constriants and fell off CL. No idea if he sold it?

Yeah, you live where cars don't rot and are therefore cheap so that's the kind of place where I drive out to drag home a new car...

Basically any kind of car that can move under its own power is worth $1500-2000 here.
