Need Opinions

Okay I have some options but I'd like some opinions. I know this is my choice too.

I have a Subaru Outback (Winter car) plus I have the RX-7 for the summer. I'd like to know if I should modify the RX-7 or...Trade in the Subaru Outback for a Subaru Impreza WRX Turbo and Modify that and keep the RX-7 stock (Except for the CD Player) If I modify the RX-7, that only gives me a modified car during the spring, summer, and fall. If I trade in the Subaru I have now for a different Subaru and modify that, that will give me something year round that is modded.

What do you guys think?

Also, so this doesn't seem like an off-topic post. If I was to Modify the RX-7, how do I go about putting an LSD in it? Which LSD works best for my 1982 RX-7 GS?

Can you trade ur outback in and get an sti and then mod your rx7? you dont need to mod much on an sti really. also for the lsd i think you can swap a rear axle from an SE but im not 100% sure on that. or you could weld the spider gears

any GSL rear will swap in, they have LSD and rear discs, 84/85 models have stronger axles and bearings, note if this is important get the front strut assemblies also, they also have bigger bearings.

GSL-SE have different lug pattern 114.3 and bigger brakes, the rear is also a 4.1 ratio vs 3.909 in the others. This is the route I took.

Yeah, the STi is actually the Subaru I want to get. I'd like to get a used one because I don't really like the looks of the new one. I could do that because reason why I was asking is because I'm sick of the Grocery Getting Station Wagon (Outback) that I drive during the winter. It was my Grammy's car that she drove and now it's mine.

I guess what I'll do is save up some money on the side for this coming spring / summer and trade in the Outback for an STi and keep the RX-7 of course and modify that. I could also modify the STi a little bit, getting it to push around 350 - 375 AWHP.

This winter, I'm going to start on the interior of my RX-7 and do some little other work like new window channels and weatherstripping.

If I can't get the STi, then I'll still get another subaru, like the new WRX TR and mod that plus mod the RX-7.

STi's are expensive to modify... hell, they're expensive to own period.

I've got an LSD for ya if you are going that route. We can talk about that in PM's if you're ever interested.

Now... get out there and tune the RX7. Whatever you do don't order the "factory" weather stripping from Black Dragon Auto. It's like $120 per door. Yikes. Get some Autozone stuff for like $5 that is the same width and thickness.

if your going to get an impreza for modification get a base modle RS or a WRX non STI modle. the insurance will save you more money right off the bat. and you can mod it to have greater power than the sti comes with stock. and not wory about the outrageous insurance that comes with the STI lable

an RS or WRX is what i'm planning on buying when u do the ouback or legasy 3.0L H6 conversion

my friend just got a 03 wrx with 40k for 13.5k. thats pretty reasonable i think.
its not the fastness that is cool about those cars its the "fun to drive" part.
kind of like the 1st gen.
id rather drive like i was on rails than raw speed anyday.

Yeah I thought about it more and forgot about the insurance issue. I'll aim to get a base WRX Turbo and modify that plus I'll also modify the RX-7.

My son had a WRX that was heavily modded. That thing was crazy fast. My wife has an Impreza 2.5 RS that is a lot of fun to drive. Would need to add limited slip and turbo to get to WRX performance range. She won't let me do it, though

My 7 is stock, so I can't tell you how much more fun it would be to drive if it had 50 more horses, but I'm sure some of the other guys can.

Because they salt the roads up here in New Hampshire and salt plus car = baddddd. Plus I live on a mountain so getting up to my house in the 7 would be a pain in the **** come winter.
