In need of new 12a housings please help

Has anyone recently bought any housings or other engine parts from rotaryengine.com I’m looking to buy new housings and they have good prices but it seems too good to be true.

Goopy Performance resurfaces rotor housings for about $400 a pair. They're in New York. My bro bracket-races a turbo 12a car and has used them. If the housings aren't too badly scored or pitted they might be able to fix you up.

do they rechrome the housings too if needed? I don’t know I need it for sure yet because I haven’t taken apart the engine but I had to drive it a few miles home on only one rotor so I’m pretty sure the housing is messed up that’s why I’m looking for new ones

I don't think they re-chrome. I think they machine the surface down and use larger apex seals to make up the difference. In not sure though. You'd probably need to open the engine and see the actual condition of the internals, to know what you really need.

I'm no rotary mechanic - just an owner and hobbyist.

Maybe just need new apex seals. You won't know until it's opened up.. but I think apex seal failure is more likely than massive surface failure,, unless it sat for a long time and the housings corroded. I don't know, not an expert. But there are many reasons for it not running right, before assuming you need new housings.

thank you so much for the help I am hoping that it’s just the seals but I like to plan for worst case scenario just to be on the safe side

The larger apex seals are to handle worn out rotors. I have never seen a 12A rotor that wasn't either perfect, or too hogged out to use their +.003" seals. Usually the slots are +.010-030" (not a typo). I have found rotors this sloppy worn-out in "professionally rebuilt" engines.
