if titles have been signed over and the your end of the trade is in your name... then legally all he can do is complain.

The Story

Yea that's what I figured... Let me tell you the story he came over I was nice enough to take.. the system out of the car he gave me and installed the whole thing into the rex then the guy (I don't think he ever drove one ) flooded the car so I had to go through the trouble of pulling the plugs... and Cleaning them and installing them back... All in all I'd say I spent 30$ just bringing it back from what he f'ed up So then after all that I washed the traded car and clean it well $20 I changed the Air Filter and oil $18 And then put a full tank of gas in 50$ So all in all he is asking me to out my self 118$ Not cool with me I mean I am not trying to be a ******* but you can't be a nice guy all the time

Once the papers are signed, you got like 3 - 5 business days to change your mind and cancel a deal. After that point, the courts are your only option to break a deal and he'll have to prove malicious or deceptive intent on your part. If you feel that wasn't present and enough time lapsed before the papers were signed to show that a conscious effort could have been made on his part for an informed decision regarding the trade, then he'll lose even that court challenge. Like someone else said. Tell him to join this RX-7 Forum and start his education now. Or sell it to someone else.

Why you would want a Maxima over a firstgen RX-7 is another matter entirely.

Nothing he can do but then again he can sue you, although he doesn't have a case. Another wards he can waste your time and money. That’s why you should not only sign off on backs of the titles but you should also do a bill of sale or something that states the conditions of the trade. That way 95% of the attorneys will turn the case down if tries to sue.

It's too bad you can't convince him he has a classic Japanese sports car. Maybe after he drives it awhile and he gets that first person to tell him "I used to have one of those" or "does that have one of those rotary engines" he will feel differently.

Damn good point. You would also be able to counter-sue to recover lost wages and have him pay your lawyer. My buddy has two small kids and two RX-7s. What was that about a family again?

OK, to be fair, they also have a Ford Humungostar.

I am a lawyer and Mezzano's advise is the best I've read. The worst that can happen is he sue you, which is extremely extremely remote. The legal fee would be far in excess of the value sought, and 99% he should lose.

haha that guy is a dumbass. i can say i have been screwed before (ie buying my 84 GS for $1k and blew the motor 5 days later). but i know one thing. he would have done the same to you givin the chance. yeah if nothing is in writing with your name signed to it saying that there was anything wrong with it, then he can just bitch and moan but thats it. unless you signed something, other than the title, then your fine. dont worry bro. just "lay low" lol.

He used family as a reason? Whatever. i have two kids and a 79 SA, why do you think I got it? No kids in the back seat pushing on mine, spilling juice, eating, throwing up, crying, complaining, singing, talking, interupting, shitting their diapers, fighting, or throwing ****. Just me, my 7, the road, and the radio, poppin into 4 gear then 5th and cruisinnnn, he needs to learn the value of solitude.

Isn't flooding a crab common to rotaries? That's not the same as a blown engine, so I don't think this guy is on the same wavelength as that.

Well first of all I am a young guy only 20 I needed to think about my family first... maybe one day I will be able to come back to my RX7 don't get me wrong I loved my car and I don't know what the guys problems was/is. If I could afford to keep it I would... so before you judge, or critize me try to understand where I am coming from sometimes you got to put you family first and everything else second... Even your RX7
