Need Ideas to Fill This Gap Around My Radio

I got a new double-DIN JVC stereo to put in Gus but I have some extra space around the stereo that I still need to fill up. I'm looking for ideas of stuff to put in the gap. I have some black plastic that I'll be using to fill in the spaces around the radio, but I'd like to make use of the dead space somehow if possible. Add some gauges, or switches, or something instead of just having a big blank piece of plastic.

I have three options. Put the radio all the way at the top. Put it all the way at the bottom. Put it in the middle. There is a total of 7/8" of dead space to be used somehow. Anybody got any ideas of that I could put there?

Thanks
Jamie

my vote is for the cup holders. But lots of guys just buy a sheet of abs plastic and cut it to fit. It's easy to work with and cheap.

What is the height of those slide out cup holders? I've only got 7/8" to work with. Most of the cup holders like that are DIN sized, meaning they are 1-3/8" or something like that. Does anyone know of an aftermarket cupholder set like that, small enough to fit my 7/8" dash hole? Or can anybody think of a car that I could steal one from at the boneyard?

I think you are looking for a 1/2DIN cup holder. Don't know if one would work with the shift **** though.

I'm going to be using a short throw Miata shifter, so that should help. I'll see what I can find. Thanks for the idea of 1/2 DIN.

Get some sweet LEDs and make a "frame".. Or, make a little shelf so that when you plug your ipod in, it actually has a place to sit. Whats up with the huge stereo anyway. You could have bought a cheap $125 stereo, and saved the extra $$$ for a performance mod.
