Need help with vents

I can turn on my heater wide open and you can barely (i mean if you hold you hand up to it it you can feel it seeping out) feel it come out in the middle and the side vents all you feel is cold air form the outside. Now I know that it is a little early to start worrying about this, but last winter sucked and i don't wanna go though that agian. So I am trying to get this fixed before winter gets here. Any input would be great.

Thanks,
Chris

The vents at each end of the dash bring in fresh air, the lever can come unhooked or break inside of the vent and you can't go to recycle mode. I know the driver's side one can get very chilly in the winter when it fails to close. Pita to fix. If the fan is blowing through all of the speeds as it should, get under the dash and start looking at the ducting. Make sure it is all hooked up. Also check that the control levers are operating the air mix and distribution system.

Another thing I have seen, particularly on older cars, is the heater core fins become plugged with lint and dust, much like a furnace filter will.

I just remembered something I didn't add before, the control lever is screwed up and won't move. How hard is this to change, it is the mecanical one. Yea it got really cold last winter and i would run over paper or leaves or anything, it would fly in thought he vents, I hated that.

Not that hard to take out. Pull the control *****, the nuts behind them, pop out the gearshift surround, remove the 2 screws at the bottom, the wires to the cig lighter and light, 2 lights for the dials, then the stereo/heater surround. You will probably need to remove the radio to check the heater control cables.

Leaves are coming in because the vent lever is broken.
