Exclamation Need help QUICK with carb/solonoid prob

Alright, my car has been running fairly rough recently with the only power between 3-4k rpms, and a basic flat spot the rest of the way. My plugs are dark, so im running rich, i have adjusted my fuel pump regulator to 3.5 psi. I was working with my carb and took off the air filter (blue thing) and blocked off the top of my carb so no air would go through trying to see if it would die. It didn't. My dad thinks it may be my air solonoid messing things up, or my richer solonoid. How can you test your solonoids? Does anyone know... or have any ideas what wrong? Oh yeah, might as well add this stuff in. I have no cat, no air pump, and my acv is blocked. I checked for vacuum leaks, and that came up negitive.... does anyone have any ideas?

just out of curiousity, did you ever check to make sure your spark wires are hooked up to the proper coils, leading and trailing. you also might be sucking air some where below the carb. down around the carb spacer, etc.

The wires are hooked up right and i don't think im leaking any air in... god knows i have sprayed down my whole carb with about 3 cans of carb cleaner.

Make sure your exhaust isn't plugged. I know you removed you cat, but a plugged exhaust causes a similar problem. Make sure your alternator is charging good. Get out a multimeter and check your coil inductance (or impedence) to make sure ones not bad.

Make sure your floats are level.

Drop your fuel PSI to 2.8, 3.5 is out of range for the Nikki, should be 2.8 to 3.2.

Try replacing your plugs. 7 plugs foul quick. I went through 4 sets trouble shooting a bad carb.

At idle, watch the primary venturies. You should see no visible amounts of gas coming out. The gas should vaporize evenly. If you see dripping out of any of the venturies (steady dripping) then you have a problem I have never been able to solve. I have had to replace my carb. I have had the problem twice.

Give it some throttle and make sure gas doesn't "spray" heavily from the venturies.

If you had a vacuum leak, the inclination would be to run lean. Check to make sure your air horn doesn't have any leaks around the edges.
