Need help with painting.
Alright, my sister decided one day to get a notion and sand down my fathers 79 rx7. She is planning on repainting it, but my know it all father insists that she is doing everything wrong. So im going to try and take over. So i just want some input on some simple little things. First off, even i know that using anything out of a can if probably a bad idea. So i managed to get my hand on an air compressor and paint gun. So where can i get some primer and paint fairly cheap? Also is there any specific tricks to doing this? I kinda want to use his car as a test for when i eventually can repaint my car... but hey, thats going to be a while off. Any ideas/suggestions/comments would be appreciated.

dont sand the whole car to bare metal,
you dont need to prime the whole car
after you prime use 600 grit or higher sand paper to knock off debri from the air
use an air/water filter on your spray gun and hose
follow basic directions on distance you should stand from car
do one full coat then wait aprox 5 minutes
ifs its still real wet your spraying to thick
test first on some scrap metal "not wood or anything else"
make sure you have a regulator on your air hose
regulate the paint to half open
then slowely regulate the air open from dead close
adjust it to where it sounds and sprays like a spray paint can only thicker
it will spray thicker without runs because the air is forcing the paint out,
not compressed gasses
