Need help isolating 2 wires on 79 SA

I am in the middle of doing this conversion to make my wiring harness plug and play on the electronic ignition.

http://www.mazspeed.com/ignitionswap.htm

All is good, I understand the tutorial. But my ignition wires are hacked up from a PO. I need help on just a few of these.

I found one of the black an white keyed 12v wires in the harness. The PO spliced it into 2 yellow wires with connectors on the end, but also one heavier yellow wire that goes to here

Tracing that black and white wire back, there is another large black and white wire it splices into. That wire has yet another clipped black and white wire coming off it.

There is another black and white wire that runs the length of the harness unbroken, and also ends in one of the 2 previously pictured clips.

Further, near the driver strut tower, there are cut wires in black yellow, black red, and yellow black.

There is a yellow green wire with a ring spliced onto the end. There is a heavy black wire that ties into more heavy black wire and has a factory ring on the end. There is a long black skinny wire that comes out of the firewall and hangs out on its own, with a spliced ring on the end.

If anyone could help me out, that's awesome. I was told I will need the help of an experienced first genner for this. Thanks so much guys.

So, here's what I figured out. Those 2 connectors in the pic are for the 2 relays(Short relay and ignition relay) that the tutorial on converting to electronic ignition says to omit. With the harness split, I might just remove that section of harness all together instead of having dead wire ends hanging about.

The black and white lead that was all hacked up originally had 2 short wires out to the resistors, and another wire headed out to one of those 2 relays. The 2 short wires should feed the + side of the new coils current, and the last wire headed to the relay will be omitted.

The long black wire was for an aftermarket tach. I traced it back up under the dash and eventually found the other end, near some screw holes. I had lost it previously trying to trace it.

The heavier yellow wire going to the relay is being removed. It ends there. The solid black and white wire that keeps going is to some light controls somewhere, and should be left alone. It does NOT go into the relay clip, the black and white wire spliced into the other black and white wires does. The cut wires near the strut tower go to either that relay, or there is one that ends into a factory splice right there. Those will be omitted with the relay clips, and the one that's spliced in will be omitted by process of redoing the splice without it.

The yellow and green wire is a tach wire. That goes to the negative side of the leading coil.

The heavy black wire is a ground that used to bolt in with one of the screws that held the resistor pack on.

The PO's hacked up weird splices are all being removed, back to the point of having just one black and white wire spliced into power feeds for the coils.

As far as actually wiring this conversion, the condensed version is:

Black and white wire that USED TO split into 2 and go to the resistor pack is now feeding +12v to the + on each coil

The + on each coil is also tied into the + side of its respective igniter

The - on each coil is tied into the - side of its respective igniter

The yellow and green tach wire is tied into the - on the leading coil

The relays on the rad support(short relay and ignition relay) are both omitted as is the wiring for them.

Leave the other unbroken black and white wire alone

If I am wrong on any of this, PLEASE tell me now so I don't get too far with this. I hope to remove extraneous wiring intact, in case it is needed.

I am very glad I split the harness open to look inside, as it was full of ice. I like the fact that the PO took the time to rewrap the harnesses, but the fact that one was waterlogged worries me.

P.S. the 2 wires I started the post looking for were the 2 black and white wires, spliced out of one black and white wire. I guess I've found them.
