Need Help With AN Fitting.

i need to buy a AN fitting for my carburator, but i dont know what size to order, and i dont now how to measure it. i have part of the old one i can use for a reference, but i dont know what the numbers mean.

if anyone could tell me how to measure it and convert it, or a websit that explains it, i would appreciate it.
thanks,
Cody

-8AN is 8mm, -12AN is 12mm, the best suppliers of these would be aeroquip or
earls. if you take you old one in to a store they will measure the thread to be
sure that it will match.

uh oh which one is it?

What fitting(s) are you looking to replace? That would be a BIG help for me to answer your question. And 8AN is NOT 8mm nor is 12 AN 12mm.

Found this information for you:

The AN (Army-Navy) standard was established many years ago by the US military to set a common measurement for hose and fittings. It designates the outside diameter (O.D.) of the ridged metal tube that is compatible with each size of fitting. Still today, this AN dash standard is the benchmark measurement for military, industrial and the performance hose applications. These dash sizes are
expressed as the numerator of the fraction, with the denominator always
being 16. For example, a -04 port is 4/16 or 1/4-inch.

Metric..............AN-......US Hose ID
Size Hose ID...............Inches
