Need Help Fast!! Konis don't fit

OK I am out in the garage tryin to install a set of Koni Orange adjustables in my buddies 1980 GS. Now we have the struts apart and everythigni s good unitl we insert the koni's into the strut housing. the new inserts will not go down far enough to let the new locknut fit onthe housing. Has anyone else encountered thi problem?? If so what did you do. If it would be easier to explain in voice lemme know and I will call (on my phone bill) to get advice!!!

Thank you in advance

Have an 84GS and both of the struts were changed before I bought it and neither one of the housings screws down all the way you know where the strut goes in. My local mechanic says its nothing out of the ordinary as long as you can screw the caps down some.

Only thing I can think off hand is that you have 81-85 struts that your trying to use... are they made for the 79-80 model?

when i put the konis on my 81 i had to cut 2 of the little spacers off the bottom of the strut. BLAM fit like a glove.

The Ground Control website says that the Koni racing strut inserts only fit with their "custom struts". I'm not sure if these are what you have, sorry I can't be much help.

Here's the website where I saw this:

Ok, I forget if the '80 housing is shorter or longer than '81-85... either way, you have the wrong strut cartridge.
