Need help!!!
Well got the car running today....but soon after I got the fuel pump fixed, I blew a seal on the carb. I then went out and bought some gasket material and made a new one....with the same result. Dunno what the part is....so I took some pics. Hopefully someone can tell me. Oh and sorry the pics arent better....i couldnt find my camera so i used my camera phone.
any help is appreciated.

I'm not sure. I've got an -SE. However it does look like some kind of solenoid. Do I see a wire coming out of it in the one picture? If so, make sure its connected where its supposed to go.
You mention you just "fixed" the fuel pump. Any idea what pressure you're running? It sounds logical that its too high if you're blowing seals in the carb.
Unless somebody else it able to give you a definitive answer, I'd start there.

Well the pump I replaced it with is a variable pressure pump...1.5psi to 4.0. I was readin in my haynes manual that the pressure should be 3.5psi to 4.5psi, then in the back of the book, found that there was a correction that says 2.5 to 3.5psi. Also found out that the sylenoid is a air vent syleniod, if that helps anyone. Now my question is could this 0.5 psi be causing the problem? if so should I just go buy the OEM fuel pump($139.99) or should i get a fuel regulator? I dunno which will be cheaper, or a better solution.
And on a side note....my fuel gauge, oil pressure and temp gauge arent working

bump back up.....Anyone?? how bout RXDoctor? Common guys I really gotta have this running tommorrow. I could care less bout the gauges really....as long as she runs ok.....but gauges would be nice to have.

Hmmm Let see if i can help here!//......Are You using any silicone sealant on that gasket or gaskets? Asking u this B/C i had a similar problem (using the blue/red/black sealent stuff) ......If U are ...Most of that sealant stuff is not recommended 4 parts that are constantly in contact w/ gasoline.......Sorry But i dont know much about Carbs ........Why would you want to buy a fuel pump? or regulator? ........Did You try cleaning the carb? and checking 4 VAC leaks?
Also if that seal blew.....could be a pressure problem or if the car is been sitting 4long /Just an old part! Just trying to give you some ideas here

Ok....using paper gasket. I replaced the fuel pump since it wasnt working. Carb was just rebuilt about 6 months ago right before they stopped using it. hope that helps. Oh and i did spray some carb cleaner down the carb.
Any ideas on the guages??

I'd say check all the fuses and such? connectors and stuff! Sometimes this old fuseholders are loose or rusty and the fuse doesnt make a good contact...w/the holder.....Also check your grounds.....the ones from the battery to the chassis and especially the ones by the right headlight(passenger side) engine grounds too........It's good to put some more grounds in the engine.....LIKE A chain from rear cover/rotor housing /center iron/rotor housing/ front cover to the battery(ground) since our car are old this would help (to avoid/rust ,and nasty stuff between rotor housings) 8 or 10 gauge better
and The stock Fuel pump is that expensive? DAMN! If i were You....I'll just buy the regulator....that way i You need more fuel(4 some reason ) w/ some mods You can allways increase the flow

OK...works for me. Ima pick up a manual regulator when I go to pick up my new cap/rotor(damm thing is a special order). Ill double check all my fuses again today also.
