Need help with 12A Cartech Turbo set up

Hey everybody. Heres the story: my dad bought this turbo off ebay a long time ago that fits his 82 rx7 (12a). He wants to put it in, but doesn't know exactly how to hook it up to his car. We put the different manifolds together and have an idea of how it sits and everything, but he doesn't know what the two different holes are for that come off the exhaust manifold. I know a little bit about turbo's and how they work, and I thought it had something to do with the wastegate, but thats really only a guess. Also he has a couple lines that came with the turbo and manifold, which i imagine are oil and water lines, but not exactly sure where they hook up. It appears that you don't run an intercooler with this system..Is that bad? One more thing...what else would he need to hook this up and run it? ECU? MBC, boost guage? Not sure what else. Thanks to anybody who helps us out here.

I don't know if my dad has a carb for it yet. He tried to contact people at cartech and they can't give him any help. Nobody seems to be able to help him get this thing put on. I'll try posting over there though. Really the only thing we need to know is on the exhaust manifold what the 2 holes are and how we'd go about bolting up the exhaust/whatever else bolts into it. And if this can be used with the stock ecu or what not. Thanks.

well its draw through so no ecu is needed... as far as the 2 holes on the back, thats where the wastegate mounts...

ss oil line, goes into the rear oil line coming from oil cooler, ss oil line is the oil feed to the turbo.

Looks simialur to some sort of Elford setup, mixture is drawn into turbo, instead of air only.

I would be wise to change oil feed to the turbo to a different point, prefferible a pickup point on the front iron, direct after the oilpump

Any idea what kind of wastegate would work/would be good for this set up? The turbo didn't look that large to me, but then again I don't have any numbers on it or anything.

Could you elaborate a little more on this 4 bolt t3 flange? My dad said he tried to get a local exhaust shop to make him a downpipe and they said they couldn't do it. Any idea where this pipe could be purchased? Thanks.

Try a GOOD workshop, any exhaust shop that says they can not help you suck big time...

I have the exact same Cartech (complete) setup sitting in my basement waiting for summer to come. You will need to upgrade the fuel pump to feed the Holley carb that goes on this unit. I also have original Cartech instructions (3 pages) which I can scan and email you . PM me.
