Need a Guru's help
Lets see if a RX7 guru can help.
I'm new to the rotary game, but have been working and tinkering on cars since they invented water. Do to the fact that my shop manual is being shipped, I figured I would seek some help.
Car was running fine this morn, I installed a electric fan with no issues.Did not touch anything else except take the battery out to mount the switch were I wanted to.
Start the car and it's running like snot, backfiring , the tach is not working and I don't hear the fuel pump.
Check what I could in the engine bay to see if I knocked something loose. Checked fuse box, ok. I don't know anything about those fusible link thingies????? Disconected the fan just for grins, same thing is going on.
Dazed and confused.

Question?
How can the engine be running when the fuel pump is not? :-)
On 84-85 models the fuel pump is controlled by the trailing ignitor which also sends a signal to the tach. If the trailing ignitor is not working or hooked up the car will not start unless the relay had been bypassed at one time.

The pressure gauge was reading zero too.

guru help
Yes back to fine running form, the plug was just making light contact with the coil.
I have the electric fan in and I'm up in the air on it. We'll see how it is when the hot weather comes.Seems to run quite along time after I shut the car down. The temp yesterday was in the low 40's , so like I said we'll see how hot weather keeps it running.
Thanks again
