what better reason for a sunroof I ask?

and you can swap between a moonroof (glass)and sunroof (metal)at will
not many other cars you can do that with
and being non-motorized they practically outlast the car

A sunroof car is a bit heavier than a non-sun car. But. . that's because there's added supports. . . so I guess theory would have it that the sunroof car is more rigid?

Someone tell me if I'm completely off my rocker on this :P

Your off your rocker
Why the weight sweat? are you building a racer?? Find some where else to dump weight (like the stock exhaust)! Nothing opens up that some-what claustrophobic cockpit like a glass-panelled sunroof (or the stock steel one pulled out, in a pinch)!! Big part of the sports car Experience IMHO. Drive one with a SR and see for yourself.

If you get rid of your sunroof you will get wet when it rains.

I would keep it.

^^^lol Jay

Make sure you clean out the drains (all 4) to avoid rust, ensure the channels are kept tidy also, otherwise if you dont want it as a pure race car forget it.

the weight between a non-sunroofed car and one with a sunroof is only a difference of like 3 pounds...

Yea my teacher sealed his sun roof, because it was leaking.

Didn't bother to replace the weather stripping, so he caulked the seam, permanently.

Actually i enjoy my sunroof... i take it off in the summer so i don't have to run the A/C... which doesn't work anyways.

At some point i would like to get a moon roof.

You can play Rat Patrol and stand up inside the car and fire your paintball gun while you drive with your feet. All that goes away if you ditch the roof.
Are you ready to give that up? Ha? Are ya ? Ha? Ha? Ha?

Need I say more?

You can get one on this forum (in the first gen sale section), locally (like I got mine), at a junk yard by luck.... or maybe even ebay.

Sunroofs are ok as long as they are maintained. Drains cleaned, weatherstrips/seals replaces etc. I personally don't like them much, and while I have had one on every one of my cars, I fail to use it.

Im not really sure what it is about them that pisses me off. I think its the fact I work on at least one a week where the drain hoses have come off, or some aftermarket dick head popped one in and there is no adjustment, and often no drain hoses.

Yea, they do have a good size sunroof, and I admit the FB sunroof kicks *** vs. the FC as far as problematic issues. As far as size vs. newer cars, thats true. However, some of those new cars have those panoramic roofs like on the G6 and scion TC which is pretty swank looking.
