Unhappy Need advice on vehicle worth

I am not into RX-7's as a hobby, but I have an opportunity to purchase one and need some feedback. The car has been sitting for 3 years and needs a new battery put it - other than it sitting, owner states everything was fine when parked. The reason I am posting is that she says that this car is worth $2,000 to people on this forum and I would like to know if that is true!
DETAILS: 1979 RX-7, body is excellent, original paint hardly faded, inside great except for seats and cracked dashboard, no known issues with vehicle other than not driven in 3 years. Anyone who could tell me what they think this vehicle would sell for will be appreciated!

Info from owner:

Engine rebuilt 5,000 miles ago (car was at 95,852 original miles at that time; I'm the third owner)

Carb rebuilt 4,000 miles ago

New clutch assembly 15,000 miles ago

New master cylinder 10,000 miles ago

New fuel pump about 10,000 miles ago

I've owned the car since 10/87, and it had 61,000 miles on it at that time.

I have all receipts for all work going back 18 years.

2 grand seems a little high for a car that has sat for three years.

Post on the PNW forum and have someone like code blue give you his advice. I'm relatively new to the scene myself but those guys on the PNW forum know a lot about these cars and what they are worth.

I would wonder why the guy would go through the trouble of rebuilding the engine, carb etc. and then let the car sit.
