need advice please

Hey, this is my first post, I'm looking at getting a '79 rx-7 that has a '83 engine carb engine (a12 i belive the engine is), and tranny in it, it comes witht the orginal engine and tranny, but is there anything i should look at before i get this, like some key things that may be a problem? also how reialble are these? i'm not fimilar with rotaty engines, but they do seem awesome!

get the owner to pull out the storage bins behind the seats, they are known to rust badly there.

If you treat them right they are very reliable and a lot of fun, you made a good move coming here first and averything you could want to know is in here just do a search. Rust is an issue definately check under the bins and rear wheel wells so you know what you're in for. Rust is also regularly found under the carpet at the rear of the drivers seat and under the pedal area. Has the car been running lately? Is the original "Rats Nest" still on the engine? Any modifications made if so what and by who?

i have no idea if its been sitting or any mods, i ahve to check it out, but i just want to have some idea of what to check.

Check for oil leaks, especially at the cooler and on the top of the engine where it says MAZDA .
