help me

I was driving my baybe around the block, and i was making this corner ( at 20 kmh) when i hit some balc ice. I was fasced with teh 2 option, nail a dumpster head on at 20, or go sidways. I went sideways, and hit a large pile of frozen dirt.

My car no has dammage, to the fender thing that is underneeth the left door and little bit of teh underboddy. About 1 and a half feet of this thing under teh door is crushed.

I am waondering how structural this part of the car is? should I repair her, or should I part her?

I am, like crying here. anyimput is greatly apritiated, thanks.

this aint too bad.. the part under the door is called the rocker panel, and the fram components are under the vehicle.. your local high school body shop should be able to put a curl in a strip of steel for you and weld it in. my dad mashed the rocker on my old corolla once and thats what i did... its mostly cosmetic. does your door still work fine? if so, your frame is allright.

You could post a picture so we could see it better that would help. It sounds like its just sheet metal to me. Pull it out, fill it sand and repaint.

NO the door didn't close. I had to take a hammer to it. It needs a bit of work, i'll get pictures tomorrow when there is light. I am more worried abotu the underboddy damage... there was a bit of that.

That damage doesn't look too bad, just messed up the appearance factor, bend the metal out of the way and keep on enjoying her.

put her up on the jack stands and grind away at any loose metal. If the damage isn't that bad you prolly won't need to fab up some inserts for all of the damage. If it's worse than that's what I suggest. Or maybe some cheap fiberglass.

Great time to clean out the bottom of ur fb and keep it tidy. Maybe even add some high temp. paint for the undercarrige. Stuff sucks for the exaust though. Just a thought.

Intresting. I will keep driving her, and start striping the intirior. I am going to turn it into a rally car so is it actuly worth repair the rocker panel?

If its just the rocker its easy but if the 1/2 rail and floor are bent its not worth major repairs, be fine for rally after you install a good cage though...

Do a lot of checking out other cages and online rollcage searches, the best ones are custom built to the car, the cheapest way to do this is to do it yourself. I advise you to attach the cage to the pillars, as well as the floor. Buy a cheap tube bender on eBay and a decent welder no lower than 185 amp. Read the regulations on the class you want to compete in very early on.

Triangulate every bar, a triangle is the strongest shape in any design.
