is it necessary to run 2nd gen plugs when using a 2nd gen coil?

i have converted my DD FB to run off of a 2nd gen coil. i will also be converting my SA to run off of a MSD powered 2nd gen coil. i read that some people say it is totally necessary to use 2nd gen plugs when you run the 2nd gen coil. is this true? has anyone ran both and noticed a difference? i want to know before i shell out the money for nothing. thanks.

You should run the 2nd gen plugs. I tried the 2nd coil for a while but the engine didn't sound right for some reason and I went back to stock. Forgot to change back to the 12A plugs and didn't notice any difference between the 2 on a stock ignition.

My SE was ran with MSD. So i had 1 msd coil for each leading and 1 msd coil for both trailing and the 6A powered them. I had noticed that my leading plugs were longer than the trailing. Why?

NO you dont. you can run any spark plug. In fact, with my cars, I run motorcyle spark plugs (B9ev's - B10ev's) and the "they said not so good" autolite's race plugs. As long as you gap it right, you shouldnt have any problem.

Wow B9 and B10 ev's. I ran those when I was squeezing my 1200.
I've tried the 2nd gen plugs after the ignition upgrade and didn't feel any difference with the 1st gen plugs.

Wacky,
Are you running the colder B10ev's in the trailing side?
