Name that part (pics)

Does anybody know what these are? They are in line from where the fuel pump is to the gas tank. Just curious what these might be.....

I believe the second picture is a test port (?). Not sure, but that's what it looks like to me.

And as I am currently fighting with my fuel pump, I'm pretty sure it's different than mine (which I am relatively sure is stock)

What year is yours?? mine is a 83. I had a fuel return line pop off and I think it took out the pump after running it all the way home from work like that. That and a glogged fuel filter over time.

fuel cut off valve, to prevent gas spill in case of car turnover.

There is a pressure relief valve at the tank. It's called the check-and-cut valve and it mounted under the car near the tank. It's inline with the line that vents the fuel tank vapours into the charcoal canistor. Its purpose is to ensure the tank does not experience either positive or negative pressure. It's a 3-way valve, and if the tank pressure is ~1psi above or below atmospheric it will vent through the third leg which is open to atmoshpere.

I vented mine to atmosphere at the rear of the car.

So the fuel pump isn't stock?? Thats weird, I ordered a stock pump bc I think that pump is gone. is there any way one of the bypass check valve could get glogged or anything?

It on my 83 GS and I don't think there is a fuel pressure regulator on the car. Would it run with that on it? Maybe thats why it failed on me....

I think I saw a 79 fuel pump once and I believe this looks just like it. Can anybody confirm?

Do you have any running issues. That looks like a inline pump for EFI.

Lol, yeah its not running now......

I drove it from maryland to georgia with no problems. Then I had one of the return lines somehow pop off and I think that made it work overtime and it finally quit on me. That and the fuel filter was dirty so I think that might of made it work a little harder on the long drive. It ran fine other then that though. This is weird......

So what does a stock 83 pump look like and how are the connections on it? The one on there now looks like the way a second gens fuel pump hooks up.

Its going to be in the area you already are, by the fuel filter. most simple thing you'll find for a fuel pump. Change the filter while your at it. the elecrtic connection is under the driverside storage bin. You'll see the wires run down, and you cant miss it.

I where the fuel pump is located that (in the picture above) is the pump I found. I have a new fuel filter on, thats how I found out the pump wasn't pumping. I installed a new filter, car would start after running the pump for a bit. And took off the new filter and its still bone dry...

I'm so lost on the history of what this car has been through so far..... So I guess the pump went out and a previous owner replaced it with what he had at the time....

That pump is the pump that many autoparts stores stock as a "stock" replacement for our cars. I've seen it installed before, don't worry it's not EFI high pressure, but it is slightly higher than stock (maybe 4psi instead of 3). Not a big deal though.

They've already identified the check/cut valve and whatnot for you, so yeah.

****, I woulda just got one from autozone or whatever. A fuel pump is a fuel pump, just get one in the same PSI range. Theyre like 20 bucks or something. I was running one in my 85 GSL with dellorotos and it was great.
