Name this glass sunroof...

Hey people....

Was browsing a local salvage yard, where I found a 85 300ZX that happened to have what looked like a glass Mazda Sunroof sitting inside of it.

I took it over to where they had some FB shells, and yes, it was a perfect fit.

Now, I'm happy that I scored an FB sunroof for a good price.....but the question is.....is it a special one?

Its completely bronze tinted on the exterior.....and perfect mirror finish on the interior.

The glass roof I have on my FB is smoke exterior, and just slightly reflective.....but nothing like a mirror on the inside. Also, this tint is factory.....nothing cheap slapped on.

Anyone have info about it:

That's an FB sunroof. Junkyards typically would throw other model parts into other cars.

Web.....yes. I have established that I know it is an FB sunroof. Since it is different than my smoked sunroof on my GSL, I checking to see if anyone knows if this was some "special edition" type part..........since it is bronze tinted, and mirror tinted on the inside. Quite different from mine.

Well.....

If anyone is interested in it, I am gonna list it on eBay.

If you know why this one is Bronze & mirror tinted from the factory, let me know, so I can add it to the listing description.

So what moonroof do you like better, the 'new' roof.
Or your 'old' roof ?? it looks like it's missing a piece of hardware ' IE ' = left tab.

I like them both.......but, I can only attach one to my Rx-7....so I might as well sell one.

It is missing one of the tabs, and one of the bolts to the other tab........and I have indicated that in the auction.

Why on earth would you want a mirror on the inside?

On my GS, i've got the smoked, I'm not sure why they came with the reflective side, on the inside.

Well, I always leave the hood popped open to let it cool down a little better. And, its not like.......complete mirror.....that you can't see through......its just alot more reflective, because of the bronze tinting on the outside, I assume. (technically the tint is on the inside....or inside the glass.....but you know what I mean)

The 79 and 80, had a bronze strip above the winshield instead of blue on most cars today. So they put the same tint on the sunroof!

i have had a roof just like it with the bronze mirror tint for 10 years.....one of the best reasons, and the new owner will find out what i mean, is that when you go out on a date with your girl and she is wearing a low cut top, you can turn on the interior light and and all i have to say is look up.

HA HA HA! That's right, she need never know why you've got that smile on yer face...

Hey, you know what? I took a better look at mine, and it's bronze, too!

Mazda's performance cars all had bronze tint by the late 80s, they must have liked it a lot...

My sunroof came with the car, but most glass ones were ordered from the dealer as accessories. Those two may have been different, or maybe just the SE got the bronze tint. I like it, I'm thinking about tinting the rest of the windows that color too...

I've seen and owned glass 1st gen sunroofs that were either smoked or bonze tinted. Nothing particularly special about the bronze, just personal preference really. And since that bronze is reflective, it reflected more light and made it darker inside than the smoke.

Hey people,

If anyone is still interested in the Bronze Sunroof, the listing is still on Ebay for another day or so...

I have several other Mazda listings up there under my other items for sale.

Just a heads up, if anyone wanted to check the stuff out.
