My new SA

Hey guys i just picked up my first first gen im loving it so far but i got a few question to ask my belt keeps ripping and i know the alternator isnt aligned right so im wondering what the exact spacing that is needed for it to be straight on im gonna go outside in a lil and try and eye it out. also i have a real bad miss and power loss.
if i already did a basic tune up on the car what would be some things to go ever next? oo and the previous owner removed the emissions

I can take a close-up pic and measure my spacer for you when I get home tonight, no prob.

The front mounting ear of the alt should be flush on the water pump front; the spacer goes in the back.

Do you still have your smog pump? Do you have AC? (changes the belt routings)

Carb rebuilds are not hard; you just need to 1) be patient, 2) follow directions closely, and 3) not lose any tiny parts.
