...ok...so if you are going to be a driftking...why not use proven parts...like the 13B-rew using the Apexi setup...which won the D1 a few years back....keep it real...

...I'm sorry , but a KA series is complete ****...SR20'S can hold plenty of power, but as it looks you are keeping it "reasonable". So eff the auto trans, use an FD trans, and powerplant and call it a day....just to easy to flame, sorry.

Who really cares what powerplant he uses, its his car.

KAs can push big numbers, if build correctly, though they do have a tendancy to loose rods through the block when boosted.

Sure, the SR20 is more tried and tested, but when it does come down to power, the old saying "Theres no replacement for displacement" does ring true.

To a point, it still applies though.

People running 2 rotors get to a point eventually, where to get the most out of it they need to upgrade to a 20b, which is adding more displacement.

I'm not in here to argue, just putting some "facts" down, even though you may not agree.

Its people like you that i dont understand, i can kinda understand being a purist. sure you like rotary's and love the SA, FB, FC, and FD bodies, suspension, whatever.

but when people take it far enough to attack another persons work just for the sole fact of "i think my **** dont stink and my cars better" is bullshit.

far as im concerned i can understand stating your opinion that rotarys are better. im fine with that. lots of people have done that in the past, but when it comes down to you attacking my project just to be an *******, i can honestly feel just fine with sticking out my middle finger and say F you.

This has been my pride and joy for 3 years, is it much..no. Do i have alot of work into it, yes. is it something thats never been done before for the most part, yes. Then why cant you just accept the fact that this has alot of work, time and devotion into the project and its unique. And as most of us like our cars to be...fast.

give your opinion then drop it...seems too hard sometime is guess huh.

In my opinion, even tho it isn't a rotary, that is still a beautiful engine setup. At least it's not the common V8 swap. I'd love to see more progress pictures as they come along.

That is a clean setup.

What will you be using for gauges, etc?

I'm not going to lie, I expected V8 swap when I first saw the post about having pistons, but I give you credit - it's different.

Has it been done before, sure - but is it as popular as the V8 swap, no. I'm a purist and will never put a piston engine in an RX car, BUT I'm glad to see you went a different route and it looks good so far. Some finished edges and good paint (if you're into that) and it'll be awesome.

As for the KA comment, I'm not sure how many people have actually built an SR vs a KA or are just breathing the hype fumes from the latest drift competition or car show, but the KA is completely fine for what he's going for. 400whp on a stock KA is a big stretch, but 300whp - definately not out of the question. SR is too typical and a lot of "Know it all" 240 kids think it's the only way to go. SR used to be unique and different, but now I cant turn around without seeing one.

Props to you for being unique and not letting another RX go to the crusher. Keep us posted..

who said this ka is stock

i've been in the nissan game for quite a while now, its nothing new to me, i've own my share of 240s with various swaps. In particular i would say the Ka is my favorite due to the amount of torque it has. To be honest i had the motor laying around so i threw it in. if i had another 12a i would have thrown it in. im not a purist for sure, but i like to go fast, so go fast parts go in.

As far as gauges go im not 100% sure, on one of the 240 forum boards theres a few new guage companies starting up that are similar to Defi guages that im looking at for a really good price. however i'll be running a Autometer Pro Comp tach and speedo.

and as far as going to the crusher, thats exactly where this car was heading, an old guy had it sitting in his yard for years when i stopped by, he said its either going to be sold in the next 2 weeks or crushed. so i picked it up. When i bought the car it had several rust spots which 75% of them are now fixed or in the process. of course it had the typical wheel well rust..which is gone in favor of some wheel tubs. The car will also see all brand new rx7 carpet throughout to finish it off.

as far as color goes it will be gloss black inside and out with a red cage and time attack wheels

Y'know, there was another member last year who posted up pictures of his 7 having a Nissan motor in it, and IIRC, he was in one of the Dakota states. He clearly stated that those type of engines and cars are more abundant than the rotary, so that's why he did his swap.

Nice engine. I wouldn't mind having a pistoned RX7. I am a purist at heart, but it never hurts to try different things.

Keep the thread updated!!

funny that was probably me, i've been working on the project for about 2 years now. little by little. And yes as rare as even 240's and ka engines are in south dakota, rotarys are even rarer...

Nice car DriftKing. The KA is a torque monster. When properly built, they also have more potential than the SR's. Just less support for them at the moment. Please ignore the haters, ans post more pics as you go along.

less support? anything they have for sr's, there is a ka equivalent, im sick of bitches complaining? big deal srs have more of the same damn parts, "omg i can pick from 20 underdrive pulley sets in 30 different candy colors", u only need one part to get the job done. Theres more support for KA's now then ever before. www.ka-t.org
