My new roll cage

Just got this one off of Yahoo Japan, it will go in the seven next week sometime. It is a Safety 21, its one of the better bolt in roll bars here in Japan, and I got real lucky with buying it at 40,000 yen (about 350.00 USD) it was pure luck to get it as the company doesn't make them for the FB anymore. It also saves me the trouble of having to ship one from the states (Sorry BWaits )

I also just ordered my inovative wide band, and am saving up cash for a datalogit, fuel rails, and injectors so I can get my PFC setup for the bigger turbo (TO4E ) can't wait, it's finally coming together.

Score one for the home team. Nice aquisition Kenn. It took me 8 days to cut, fit and weld my cage in, don't know if I ever want to try that again.

don't worry thats a bolt in thats rated at 600kgms of force (not weight) to crush and it passes the muster for all of japans tracks and sanctioning bodies for amateur racing over here.

yes its not as good as a fully welded unit, but there are compromises that have to be made to keep it (the car) at a reasonable cost and at 350 bucks or so that deffinitely keeps cash for the other items I need

Hope you never wreck that car Jose, because those brackets on that tank don't look too sturdy... lol

I think Lt Dan was referring to me. I am only making an attempt to build a cage. I have to try something if I have free access to the material. I love the U.S. government!

Nope, I was referring to that cage. Sorry, any time I see an "adjustable" roll cage, it makes me cringe....

Dan, what do you mean by adjustable? This is a bolt in and has no room for adjustment, please elaborate.

The tabs on the top of that cage resemble the "swing-out" bar tabs on some Pro-Street cars' side bars. If you're bolting the tube assembly up there to those tabs, then that represents a lot of potential movement over an actual welded-into-the-car cage.

At least that's what I think he was looking at...

I count EIGHT of those points.... Each one is a source for potential movement....

Thats a nice buy there. A friend of would probably be dead if he didn't have that cage in his car. His was in an integra but it was also a safety 21 cage.

Have you ever thought about welding the cage in Kenn? I mean- Your going to pull the carpet and stuff anyway... I just am aways scared of a bolt in cage... You know..your only as strong as the bolts that hold it in... One thing that I have seen done...is...bolting the plate to a larger plate and welding the larger plate in... Does that make sense?

I assume you have to cut the roof off?

WELD THAT SUCKER IN!

With the way that cage was constructed, he'd have to redo the base plates to "make up" the length lost on each tube going to the floor. Each place where those tabs exist would have to have its tube fish-mouthed after removing the eyelet that fits in the tabs. The whole cage above floor level would shrink by about an inch and half in every axis.
