according to a book I got only 126 were made between 1979 and 1987. Also there is supposed to have a data plate that is numbered located in the engine compartment. That is a great find, and something you should definantly hold on to.

Good luck with it.

Zack, way to go there buddy. I guess you got your Christmas present early

I remember seeing the articles back when they were being offered. I believe I have some literature back at home. I am going to dig it out when I go back up..

dosnt matter, it was a steal for sure!
the person that had this car built had say in it from begining to end, from the body color to motor setup, this is as personal as it gets when it comes to these cars.....

Ok, I'll try and answer all of the questions.

1. The previous owner lived in Arizona and worked with my Mom. He had to get rid of all his toys and he knew I was a rotorhead. So I got first dibs on it.

2. Running condition... It hasn't even been started in 6 years so I'm sure the motor is carbon locked by now. But that's ok, I already have a new motor for it.

3. How many were made? From '79-'85 there were a total of 126 made.

4. Yes, I'm going to keep those rims on the car. I'm just going to pull them and recondition them first.

5. How much did I pay for it? Well, you are all going to hate me here but... It was free. It cost me $450 to ship it up here and that's it. Not a bad deal huh??

6. Color scheme - paint will be arctic silver with a charcoal top and charcoal interior. Those will be the only changes that are going to be made to the car. The only thing I'm still debating is whether or not to make the top and interior black instead of charcoal.

7. The Holley carb is what came on the car. As it sits right now, everything on the car was there when the original owner took delivery. I'm the 3rd owner of this car. The nikki setup you guys are thinking of was the JDM 12AT. This started out as an N/A 12A that had a draw through carb and turbo added on.

8. Pacific Avatar did sell a widebody version of this car, but I guess I couldn't get that lucky and have this be one of them. I'm not going to complain though.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I will do my best to keep this thread updated with progress and pictures as things move along.

Preston, once I move the car to Wolf for the engine/tranny removal I'll let you know.

Ben, I'm looking forward to getting this thing in the paint booth too bro! But we're going to have quite a bit of bondo work to redo around the trunk area.

Jackie, Berry said thank you for the compliment on her FD. We hope to have it at a meet soon for everyone to see.

Zach

Definitely go with the charcoal.

That is one amazing little car. It just got added to my list of incredible and unique first gens, right up there with Kim's FB (only supercharged 12a setup I've seen and a beautiful one at that), Trochoid's widebody (immaculate buildup from the ground up), DirectFreak's Cosmo 13b Turbo (more boost than I can shake a stick at!) and a few others I keep in my list of total awesomeness. (D0 Luck's also comes to mind.. as does IoTus')

I can't wait to see this thing when it's all shined up and done. Good score man!

Jon

Edit: If you're replacing the engine anyway, a little MMO, some new plugs and wires and a bit of fresh gas goes a long way. I wouldn't doubt if you could un-sieze it and start it without problems. Hell, my 12a spent 5 years sitting in a driveway and when I found it I couldn't turn the main pulley... but 40,000km later it's still going!

I'm going to try and get the motor to start, but if I can't get it to then I'll be more than happy to open it up and rebuild it. It doesn't take me very long to build a motor. Plus, I'd feel much better knowing that the motor has fresh seals and springs in it. I already have a 12A that has new housings and rotors that I can use for parts thanks to a VERY generous member of this forum. Thanks again for all the kind words everyone.

ok here's my advise. starting with the speedo reading 017***. normally i'd say it done turned over as in 117***. then there's this pic:

notice: Designed for Gloria O. Hays.

i did a google search and seem this Gloria Hays was an actress, so u my friend might have gotten more than u think. start DIGGING. this may have been a factory made vehicle for a moviestar. might steer u in a direction of restoration that u might not have otherwise. GOOD LUCK!!

You should "JUNK IT." I collect JUNK RX's and I have a free towing service.

And to all the guys from NorCal 7's. Sorry that it took me so long to get these pictures up, but I didn't have internet at home until today.

And the plans for this car are as follows. I'm going to restore it to how it would've looked from the factory. I'm not going to try and make it any faster than it was in stock trim. I am going to change the color scheme on the car, as well as the seat material. But that's it. These cars are incredibly rare and I just don't see the point in modifying it.

Well, here are a few pictures from the first couple of days after delivery. Let me know what you guys think.

Great score, and a freebie even, damn. if this car was built for an actress, I believe I have heard the name, don't recall any movies, then you might wish to reconsider the color change. Keep us posted on the progress.
