My idea for an exhaust system

I already have a custom (crappy) exhaust on my rx7 which consists of header, glasspack, and super ugly cheap muffler. I was thinking of ripping everything out, and running it from the header, through a high-flow baffled muffler in the middle, and then a rice cannon on the back (but only 2.5-3" tip, nothing huge). I'm curious how that would sound. Probably WAY better than the weed whacker on crack sound i'm getting now. I'm looking for a really low deep rumble.

Um low deep rumble will probably require a Camaro with a V8. Ha just kidding.

A deep rummble with a Rotory may be a hard thing to acheve. But i am no expert. It seems that it just the nature of the engin to wine not rumble

I have a Autozone special that sounds AWESOME. 3A Racing muffler. Straight through design, stainless packed, $110. I have a 13b so it may be a little harder to get that deep sound your wanting.

My friend has an Aurospeed on his GSL with a header and it sounds good. Not as deep as mine but good.

Good luck

The Racing Bleat full-length presilencers do a good job of minimizing that tinny tone, I guess that's about as close to a deep rumble as you're gonna get with a rotary.

I don't know how it would sound, but on e-bay there is usually a porsche 944 muffler for sale. They're great looking mufflers, search on them from ebay sometime. Don't waste your money on a glass-packed muffler, they sound good in combination with a basically stock exhaust system, but once a header is installed it ruins the deep tone. If anything, try a quiet version of a flowmaster, they're fairly inexpensive and use sound deflection for muffling insted of cheap fiberglass.

it would probably be pretty deep at idle, then sound like a weedwacker on crack at high rpms

mschafe; do what i did. i have the racing beat collected header, going straight in to a cheap pep-boys "turbo II" muffler, to straight 2.25" piping exiting thru a TSUDO high flow turbo muffler. it sounds beautiful. very thick, even at 8,000 rpms!!! all my friends love it! i think the trick is having a muffler/silencer directly out of the header.

FB II.. that's EXACTLY how I want my exhaust on my car. I really didn't mean 'V8' rumble, just a lower tone. Anyway you could post a sound clip of your exhaust?

I got a racing beat header and a racing beat muffler. I don't have a presilencer but instead I have two pipes running from the header all the way back and being collected right before it connects to the racing beat muffler. It sounds great.
