My God, Thats A Lot Of Smoke!!
Hello Everybody, I think I screwed up big time, so I will go into great detail of my adventure: I recently acquired a 1982 Mazda Rx7. The previous owner had it stored for many years. Aside from some minor interior problems, it looks great!! The only problem though, is that when it is started, it produces enough smoke to cover California! This is thick white smoke, after 2 minutes of running, it develops a blue tinge to it. The poor car won't idle either, it just sputters and dies unless I apply constant gas. I suspected that oil was entering the combustion chamber, however, the sparkplugs have no oil or residue on them. After a few minutes, I got scared that I would either kill my car, or smoke out my neighborhood, so I shut it off. When I tried to start it again, It wouldn't turn over. I assumed I had flooded the engine, so I disconnected the fuel pump and spark plugs in an attempt to remove excess fuel. I cranked the engine for a while, and then rehooked the plugs. It started, with out as much smoke as before. So I desprately re-hooked the fuel pump while the engine was running, and the smoke started again. This time it died. I noticed a large puddle of oil underneath the car. It seemed to be originating frm a coffee can-shaped black canister located on the passenger's side of the engine compartment. The engine still turns, and it makes the proper sounds. Any ideas on what is wrong with this car?

White Smoke = burning water
Blue Smoke = burning oil
If you saw that much white smoke check coolant level, pull the spark plugs let it sit over night on top of a peice of cardboard see if any coolant leaks out.
The canister, are you talking about the charcole canister. It's mounted on the passenger side strut tower. If that is filled with oil, make sure the oil level in the crankcase has the proper fill.
see if those help.

Thank you Moremazda. I greatly appriciate your help. I will try out all of the things that you suggested. By the way, how would the coolant get into the combustion chamber?
