My first autocross

i was just invited to an autocross, nothing special, basic really. Set up, official, in a huge parking lot, with ALL different kinds of cars. Course is like a salom, hard left, hard right, long curve, then back to start (somethin LIKE that). ANYWAY, i'm just goin for fun and see if i can beat ANYONE.

MY QUESTION IS, i have 4 full weeks to "prepare". What would be the best thing i could do in that time for an autocross: 1.springs and shocks (allready have bushings and a pro did a full alignment with full neg cmaber-caster) 2. Headers and muffler and have my car tuned and have timing checked. I CAN"T afford both.

My car is basically stock with new tires, new plugs etc.., all cats removed and replaced with one "high flow cat" , andit runs pretty gosh darn smooth

Option #1 hands down. Horsepower means little in the really tight confines of solo. Too bad you'll ruin your new alignment by doing so.
Make sure you have at least 1/2 of your brake pads left and flush the entire system. Castrol dot4 can be had at any parts store cheap

AutoX is probably the most fun I've had in a car, other than making whoopie, and you get such a surge of adrenaline, your hands won't be able to stop shaking.... it's awesome.

Auto-x is a blast!!! 1
the best part, is it really shows as you get more experieance.
Dont go out trying to beat anyone. its all about chalenging yourself to brake a little deeper, and drive a little smoother, and have as much fun as possible.

Hmmm...

I probably suck at driving compared to many of you, as I am 16 and don't even have my senior liscence. But still, ever since I heard of it, I've been wanting to do autocross. Where should I look to find info on auto-x events around my area?

I suppose I just need to get to know more people. Too bad no one with a nice car actually lives in this town or wouldn't want to associate with a 16-yr old.

I am done stealing your thread. (I don't wanna go waste space on the forum for this simple question)

You'd be much better off going for the suspension mods.

What good will your extra ponies do you if you cant keep your car going around a corner in a correct manner?

Just make sure you control your driving and make clean lines on the track. Nothing hurts a lower HP car worse than sliding around on the track!

You need to search for the nearest SCCA chapter. Most likely there is one close by. The will have the schedual for autocross events.
