My FB (an update)

On the last episode, yinz collectively told me to put a damned fuel pressure regulator on. This has helped quite a bit but I still have some issues to deal with before she's driveable. I am now able to get the idle down to 850-900, she doesn't die on decel, and the smoke out of the tailpipe has been reduced.
I'm going to post pics on where I mounted the FPR. I think my dizzy is in wrong, but now, thanks to the community / archives, I know how to find TDC with the engine in place; Therefore, I'm gonna be putting the dizzy in the correct way tonight. Then my ign system will be all straightened out.
I never thought that the smoke coming out could be coolant burning because it smelled so rich. However, it is white, so if it still smokes, I have a good idea where it's leaking. Those damned O-rings on the intake manifold!
Updates are coming, assuming anyone cares.

Hooray, she's running alot better! Idle is smooth and just where it's supposed to be. I'm still smoking out of the tailpipe, but I think maybe that just comes with the no emissions. Also, my RPM tach has a strange twitch. The engine is idleing smoothly but the tach will flick upward a couple hundred rpm. Any Ideas what that could be? I can take video if necessary.

Congrats on getting the car running better. I'd say check your grounds for the tach twitch. Also, to remedy the intake mani coolant leak, pull the manifold and tap some 20mm freeze plugs into the block w/ RTV as a lubricant. Jeff20B wrote about this in one of his threads, and it works wonders.

+1 on checking the grounds. Check all connections at the trailing coils and make sure they're clean and free of corrosion.

Replace the o-rings around the intake manifold coolant passages after you tap in the freeze plugs for added protection.

It was idleing smoothly and where it's supposed to. However when I took it for a test drive, it had no power, which got worse under electrical load. This also leads to the coil and ignitor connections possible being loosey goosey.
