My car finally runs the way it should!!! Hell YES!!!
Whooo! I got my beast running this morning. After troubleshooting it all week (see "Frustrations" thread), I found out that my CAS was grounded incorrectly. It needed to be gorunded through my new ECU and not just straight to the body. I soldered that connection, adjusted a few little things, and fired her up. To my extreme delight, the car didn't vibrate or misfire at all.
I let it warm up, tweaking the fuel curve as it did so (I love my new ECU btw). Then I pushed on the throttle ever so hard and VROOOOOOOM! Oh wow. I was so relieved to hear this thing skyrocket up to 8k with no trouble.
Took her down my driveway, looked both ways, and then slid the ***-end sideways as I plowed through first, second, third, and eased into fourth. I don't have a speedo so I'm not sure how much over the 25 mph speed limit I was, but I can only imagine it was a lot.
I've been out driving around for the last two hours now and I'm about to head out again (needed to come home to eat
). This thing is fast. It still needs to be tweaked quite a bit, but I have the fuel at a decent enough level that I can romp on the throttle with no hesitations or worries. The best part of it all is that all the rice I saw while driving was just scared of me. Saw a couple V8 guys (there were a lot of people cruising this morning
) who didn't look until I blipped the throttle. Then they quickly looked and got a weird look on their faces. Hehe, the magic of rotary.
Finally, I have an n/a beast to call my own.

I W S

Yeah, pics would be cool

My car died a couple days ago, wouldnt start (starter, and for once thats actually true) kick-started it (thank god for the 5-speed install!!!!!) And it turns out it was only a loose wire!!!
Anyway, my point, even though it was dead for a day, its always great to here the ol' seven rev back up again and than go out and have some fun!!! 2 1/2 hours of romping at a sustained rpm of 4500rpm, 130km/h+ on backroads in 5th gear. FUN!!

There is one thing that moves on my engine and that's the primary throttle plates. Everything else spins, but that doesn't really count
I spent about 7-8 hours just driving around today. It felt so good. I didn't even get on it all the time, just enjoyed driving the car that I built all myself. And this thing does doughnuts like a champ, BTW.
About 1.75 tanks. Hehe, what energy crisis?
The way I see it, I'm willing to pay and burn the gas, so what the hell? That's my form of entertainment, buying gas and driving around. If the price rises, I'll pay it, because all I want to do is drive anyway. It's cheaper than going to the movies now-a-days anyway.

how long did the swap take from beginning to end? i'm mainly interested in the electronics ... you're using standard Gen II ECU, right?

Hes using a microtech
Thanks for the compliments all.
Microtech is the system. It's a pretty unused stand alone ECU (at least in the states). It's bigger in Australia since that's where it's made and sold. I like it but there are many who seem to feel quite different.
@Mike - Sure, let's line up. I assume you meant against your 'vert.
EDIT: The swap took 7 months to complete BUT that was only because I didn't have the assets all at once and took my sweet *** time doing it. Not too mention didn't know that much about first gens when I started. I also built this car from the ground up, all I started with was a frame with a few body panels. Everything else was added by me. Starting with a running first gen and just dropping in a 13B with the Microtech system, I'd say a week, tops. That was the easy part after all
