Question My car breaks down under load!

Ok, please give me some ideas on what you might check regarding this problem.

The car is an '82 RX7 which is running a TII engine. It still uses the dizzy and uses a Microtech for fuel.

Anyway, when I rev hard and start making boost with the foot to the floor the car will start spluttering and carrying on at about 5.5k rpm. I can hear backfiring and the car makes no more power after this point.

If I drive a bit easier (less load) but let it go it will reach redline with no problems.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I'm really beginning to wonder myself about this. I'll have to check to see if it's locked (never done that before) and if it isn't get it done.

The dissy is the stock 12A one, so it needs to be locked AFAIK.

What about getting a 12AT dizzy?

Could also be a fuel problem though...

What is your fuel pressure? Had similar problem. My fuel pressure was dropping to 25 psi. Bad fuel pump. Stock dizzy and SDS Fuel.
