My car

Just worked out how to post pictures so this is my car.

Love it, In imaculate condition and I think it is the best colour. I'm getting 15 inch rims so I will post more when I get 'em.

The white car in the backgorund is my mum's car. Subaru liberty B4 (twin turbo sedan like a bigger more luxury version of the wrx, don't know if they have them in the USA)

Overpriced?? They win bang for your buck awards (The STI won the motor mag one last year). Aus $40 grand for an AWD car that does 0-100 in 5.something seconds. They are certainly not overpriced for a new car, I have never heard that said about them before! I love the boxer 4 burble too, The new wrx (this years) apparently doesn't burble as much anymore and people have complained, guess you can't please everyone. Also I don't know what you are talking about with the rough idle?

Looks good, a great purchase. Your mother also has excellent taste in the B4 as a four seater.

I am at Flinders Medical early in April so will keep my eyes out for you on the road as Adelaidr is such a small place.

680rwhp12a- Australia never got the 12AT as Japan. nor did it get the 13B of the USA. All RX-7s came with a 12A with the sameports as the European model which in its later form gave about 115hp.

Nunerous 12AT engines were imported from Japan and transplanted into RX-2, RX3 and RX7 cars. When the13BT came more readily available demand for 12ATs dropped off. Things changed in the last 3 years. Its now got to the stage where a good 12AT costs 50% more than a 13BT.

My car originally had a 12a, but the previous owner put in a decompressed 13b from a TII (but it is running naturally aspirated).

It means low compression. In a naturally aspirated motor like mine it is a bad thing (although it doesn't make that much of a difference.)

It's just a 13BT without the turbo.

Browney, do you know if it's a S4 or S5 motor?

Nice car anyway, black is always good.

680RWHP- the Cosmo 1982 model first got the12A 6PI in September 1981. It went only into jspec RX-7s in March 1982 as part of project P130, a mid run product improvement for the home market. The 12AT of course still retained the 4PI set up.

Nah, I can't work out if it is a s4 or s5? Can any body help me identify it? I don't know why but in adelaide getting a '13bt without a turbo' and using a modified niki carb is a popular swap.

If you have the s4 engine, the NA 13B produced 146hp compared with the 182hp of the 13BT.

It would be interesting to know what the 13BT now produces without the turbo. I would suggest about 135hp which would give you the same performance as a stock gsl-se with the earlier 13B.

Perhaps considering the number of 13BT engines now available secondhand it expains why this transplant is becoming popular.

There are two simple checks as to whether you hava series 4 or 5.

1. The Water Thermostat Housing. If its a s5 engine, which I hope you have, the housing is made from black plastic without any access cap. In contrast the earlier s4 engine had an alloy housimg with a small access cap.

2. Knock Sensor. In the s5, its above the trailing spark plug on the front rotor. In the case of the s4 you can find the knock sensor near the oil filler pipe.
