Thumbs up My '85 Blow-through Turbo 12a

Hey guys, after several years, I've finally got my car on the road and running. I recently made some posts because I had some overheating problems, but an FC oil cooler and a rewired E-fan did the trick. So here's the particulars on the car:
Streetported 12a
s4 Turbo, rebuilt and upgraded by turbonetics
OER 45 DCOE(by the way, if anyone has one, let me know. It looks like the pump jets are smaller than on a weber, and I dont know where to get them from)
Racing Beat intake manifold
Large Spearco intercooler
RotaryShack aluminum carb hat
aeromotive fuel pump and RRFPR
16 Gallon fuel cell
stainless steel fuel and oil lines
2.5in powdercoated IC piping
2.5in exhaust(RB downpipe, magnaflow cat and muffler)
tokico blues, eibach springs
stock ignition
locked dizzy @ 15degrees

I've had all sorts of trials and trbulations trying to get this to work, from bad secondhand carbs and turbos, to ridiculous waiting times on certain parts. But finally, it's done, and I've driven it around a good bit the past couple of weekends. First off, it needs some serious tuning. It's idling a little rich, and doesnt seem to want to lean out any, has a tendency to get incredibly lean while cruising, but thankfully stays plenty rich under boost. The car is quick (i dont have any sort of numbers yet to show how fast it is), but I really expected it to be faster. I dont know, but I think I've got the speed bug. I want to reroute my air filter to a colder spot, and upgrade my ignition in the near future. Also I slapped a cheap summit muffler on the end to quiet the car down, and I imagine it's very restrictive.

Anyways, as soon as I can, I'll get some numbers up here. Also, I'm having a hard time finding someone to host it. For now, enjoy the pictures!

I think I asked you before but I forgot. What are you using for engine management?

haha, well I'm running 10lbs of boost at the moment. I think my fuel pump can handle about 15 psi(it's a 20psi fuel pump, and I'm running my base pressure around 4). So that's a possibility. My turbo can handle it for sure. But can a rebuilt and streetported 12a? Hmmmmm....

IIRC, it's a Mr. Gasket universal 16in 2,000cfm fan. It seems to work really well, and fits fairly nicely too. GOt it from summit

stock ignition??? POOOOOOP!!!! hurry up and get an msd, it'll help tremendously!!!!!

and are you sure your timing is at 15 degrees? if so then you didn't lock the dizzy did ya, cause from the pictures it looks to be at full retard, unless you skipped a tooth. there's alot of hidden power in proper timing. even with locked distributors. i've forked with this **** aaaaalot! and 10psi should be plenty fast. i beat a 240sx that put down well over 300hp (380 in fact) with only 10# of boost with the stock carb! do you have a wideband? it's looking good bro, but you still got a ways to go and then it's gonna make you smile soooo hard!

GavinJuice: yea, the radiator hose closest to the radiator is a little on the old side, I should replace it. About the rtv, it's a precaution, i welded a fitting to that section of pipe, and I didnt trust my welding skills too much, so i figured the rtv would stop any leak in case it wasnt water-tight.

FBII: my timing is locked, did it myself. I think I skpped a tooth, because the timing was too far off in the stock position for me to start it. I'll admit, my timing knowledge isnt the best. Right now the pin is 3/4 of the way between the yellow and red mark for the leading, which should be 15 degrees. It's about 1/4 of the way for the trailing, so to my understanding that would be about 5 degrees. If I've got something totally mixed up, let me know. Also, what timing were you running at 10psi? It sounds like I've got a lot of power left to squeeze out of the car if youre beating 300+ hp 240's.

You're running WAY too retarded! And by what you described you have the trailing firing before the leading!

The timing marks are at 0* leading and 20*ATDC trailing. You need BTDC which is 15* BEFORE the leading timing mark. Trailing should about 5* BTDC.

I'd suggest brushing up on your ignition knowledge before playing around with it.

Fix that up and it will be a different car.

ok, I think I made a typo in my previous post. Also, I believe I was just wrong on some timing things. Im really not sure what I was thinking. Anyways, I made a little paint picture, just to make sure I understand fully where my timing should be. the top picture is my current timing settings, the bottom picture is where my timing SHOULD be.

Alright, I found someone to host my video. Nothing special, so I wouldnt waste your time unless you have a decent connection. And someone let me know if my picture is right about the timing, please!

Yes, the bottom one is how the timing should be. That should really wake your motor up.
