CA My 84 GSL rehab project

Here is my 84 GSL i picked up for free at the end of april. A little history on the car I got it from the second owner who was giving it to her nephew 7 years ago it was stolen from him and found a month later in a parkinglot. about 20k miles before the theft the engine was rebuilt and then the paint resprayed by mako before the theft. After the recovery the car sat in a gravel driveway for 7 years. So far I have blown out all the fuel lines, drained the tank, replaced the clutch master and slave cylinders, had the flywheel re-machined, installed a new clutch kit. The engine turns over and will run in high idle with the choke pulled but wouldnt stay running before the new clutch. Havent reinstalled the transmission yet im waiting for my new clutch slave line old one sprang a leak after getting pressure in it ill have more pics soon here is what i have so far.

looks like a nice project! keep us updated with plenty of pics and details. looks like they were abusing the car after it was stolen. you may also want to change the diff oil. it also seems that the carb is in need of a good rebuild. the kits are readily available and the carb only takes a few hours to properly rebuild.

Nice project.

It looks to be the best color combo (same as mine) beige and brown interior.

Well got the transmission back up in place, reinstalled the starter, Had to figure out the wiring since i diddnt take beforehand pics. Bought a 12a mani from RX-7 Chris. heres the pics of the tranny and starter in place before wiring. You can see all the ancient road grease and grime on the left hand side of some of the pics I sprayed off and de-greased the tranny and starter before i reInstalled them. They were completely black before I sprayed and used degreaser on them I siddnt take a wirebrush to the tranny but I did on the starter. Looke better than some rebuilt ones ive seen over the years

The mani I purchased is from Cshaw07 not Rx7-Chris sorry for the mispost wont let me edit havent gotten anything done since last thursday went to Reno for hot august nights hoping to find a good paint shop to take the 7 to when shes all done. Oh and never buy a Dodge intrepid my poor fiance's died again while in reno I think I convinced her to take a shotgun to the engine lol in the past year its had the engine/transmission/battery/alternator replaced now the ecu went bad its practically new with all that on a car thats not even 8 years old yet with light driving so yea avoid the Intrepid like the plauge just remember it rhymes with Insipid.
