My '83 RX7 GS Finally home!

While sitting in storage for 20 years while I was in the service, went to college, got married and divorced twice, had 2 kids, and generally lived a boring existance without it...I now have my 1983 RX-7 GS back in my garage. It was only driven about 100 miles a year since 1986 and currently the odometer sits at 72,548 original miles. Other than a rebuilt carb, and a replacement hood from a fender bender in 1984, its all factory. The interior has issues due to the non tinted glass, and there is no radio, and the retractable antenna is broken, but no rust ( I guess the "Under Armour" rustproof package was worth it at purchase!).

I am going to spend the next couple years getting it "CHERRY" I am in the Chicago area and any and all resources, especially for interior parts and general mechanical maintanence, would be appreciated.

I'll include some pics with more to follow. Feedback is appreciated!

Congradulations on keeping such a nice car. Lots of people would have gotten rid of it long ago. Enjoy driving it. You'll wonder why you didn't long ago.

Welcome to the forum.

2,500 for an FB with only 29k miles doesn't seem like that bad of a price, actually.

And DirtyDog, welcome to the club. Good luck on getting it cherry again, and its definitely awesome that you kept it for as long as you did. I don't know how you resisted driving it more often than what you did because I'd be sneaking off on weekends and weeknights to drive for a few hours every week. There is definitely all the information in the world about these cars on here. I love black FB's.

Maybe i missed it, how did you keep the engine fresh all those years? or does it need a rebuild?

Was stored in a commercial trucking garage that my father owns. He started it regularly, and drove it a few miles each summer. In the winter he had one of his mechanics set it up for winter...drain gas etc...
Iwas 300 miles away and only got to drive it occasionally on visits when weather was good, but it's back in MY garage now! Let the good times roll!.
