My 1st rx7

I got this car about 9 months ago for $1800 without seeing it besides pictures on Facebook. I knew it wasn't running but it had a pretty clean body very little rust and only 85k on it. I was told it was not getting fuel plus needed brake and clutch work. So far I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel lines to filter/pump/cutoff valve, fuel lines in engine bay, clutch master/slave, and brake master. I'm waiting for shoes to come in since the bleed screw in the wheel cylinder was stripped so I can change those out. I'm almost done doing a rats nest delete then I'll delete the omp. I was having issues bleeding the clutch because the rats nest was in the way so I'll do that soon. The does run now but smoked like crazy on the first startup. I figured it would smoke because the car has been sitting for at least 1.5 years.

I would try using some sea foam or carb cleaner to clean out some of the gunk and buildup it probably has inside the carb. I would also drop some seafoam in the gas tank to help clean out the fuel jets. Once you have ran it for a bit after doing this, I would change out the spark plugs, distributer/cap, and spark plug wires.

I had sprayed a bunch of carb cleaner in not long before the first start up. The gas tank looks to be recently redone. It had no rust in it and is freshly painted.

I did the flex hose when I did the master and slave. Supposedly the po changed the brake lines but I'll check them out. I am eventually going to get ss braided lines. My goal for now is to get the car running and driving so I dont have to work on it on my lawn and can use my garage.

If the engine turns out to be healthy, I would also change the heater hoses as those are often overlooked and very old.

Interior looks pretty reasonable. You can repaint the plastic pieces to get it back to looking new. The seats and carpets are nice condition as well.

Replace all the rubber parts; brake/fuel/clutch/coolant/heater hoses, poly bushings front and rear (leave the bushings alone on the 4 rear links unless they are really bad). Replace all the fluids and all the ignition service parts. Once you get through all that, should be pretty reliable and fun to drive.

that's the plan with this. All the ignition stuff was replaced by the po a few months before I got it. My number 1 goal is to get it driving so I can work on it in my garage instead of my lawn. I'm going to do a new radiator with electric fan soon.

Don't go with an electric fan. The stock clutch fan pulls better air than most any electric fan on the market. It's dead reliable and simple too.
I would recommend getting a replacement aluminum radiator if yours is showing its age, however.
