Is you'r motor stock???And if it is you'r going to need a housing. The reason is that the stock apexs when is brack it scratches the housing. So it is not a good thing, and if you have, let say a atkins apexs then you'r ok.Because when an atkins or other's brack the housing dose not get damage. correct me if im wrong.

225km sounds about right for the first blown apex seal on a stock motor that wasn't cared for correctly from day one.

I bought the car from a guy who didnt know a carburetor from an alternator.. let alone a rotary engine.

I imagine it was not cared for like it should have been.. the year after I bought it I took care of it well and it ran good, but then it caught up

Oh well.. Time to make use of that S5 turbo I have waiting for me

Took a peek inside the 12a and saw the problem Apex seal..

It is in fact still seated in the rotor, not cracked or broken..
BUT the spring is long gone, i dont know if its broken or fell out? or whatever.. but basically i push on the seal, it goes in the rotor and does not spring back.. it just sits in there till i turn the engine, then it wiggles out again.. no spring at all

This is the whole problem right here..

Is it possible to take apart half of the engine and just fix that one thing? I know its not worth it.. but I'd rather do that than have my 1st gen down all summer and winter..

Added pics!

Attempted pics of the problem apex seal.. then random engine bay cleaning fun pics..
Went to town with the simple green and pressure washer

Also doing a major suspension upgrade, everything in the front end of the car.. steering, all suspension.. coilovers, sway bars.. brakes.. the whole package
And a good coating of the wheel wells and engine bay.. More pics and updates to come!

Whoops, the good news is you get to tear down a 12A (I'm waiting for the day).

Also that's one hell of a nice engine bay.
