Thats just putting off the inevitable... But respectable if you fix the rust and can't afford to paint the whole car.
I personally fixed my fender/rocker rust spots and holes then painted them black (see sig). It turned out nicer than I thought it would.

Damn man. That's great. I can hop out of my car, take a look at my fender trim piece and check my hair in it before going into my ultra cool club where all the fine foxy ladies are dancing and drinking, and be smooooooth in my 1984 Mazda Rx7.
