mufller

i am in a incredible need for a muffler. the one i wanted was sold out. and will be till late december. im looking for something that is perferable under $140, stainless steal.. and not 324234" big. i was going to get a flowmaster, but i heard they sound like **** with rotaries. is this true? can someone please point me to something. ive looked hard and come up clueless. i also want it to be kind quiet. i would buy the powerpulse muffler but its just too much

Get a cherry bomb. The 83 GS I just got has one on instead of a muffler. Sounds kinda cool. well sort of. If you rev and let off the gas really fast it sounds like a shotgun going off.

try www.bestautopartsonline.com for Magnaflow muff's.

If you don't like those borla is also very good quality, and they like rotorys too...

yea, i love what you have done with your car. hopefully, one day, i will have an engine like that under the hood. do you have any pictures of the magnaflow on your car? do you have a tip on it? ill be running a racing beat header, catco catalytic converter, and 2.25" piping into a muffler, which is my only setback as of now. how does it sound, dead? raspy? i just dont want that, really bad metallic sound you header some honda's at high rpm's.

The Flowmasters and "turbo" type mufflers sound crappy with rotaries, and the glasspacks sound good until they burn up, which is pretty darn fast (a month, if you're lucky). I'd go with the stock muffler, myself. Cheap, durable, easy to find, sounds okay, too. Good luck with it! -WG

I say go on e-bay, get an apex'i n1 "style" muffler. Like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1869583106
I'm using one of these, have been for 1/2 a year, doesn't quiet much without the silencer in. I have no cats or presilencer with this on the back with the silencer in, and it's not too loud. 2.5'' inlet, 3.5'' tip, completely straight through, full stainless steel. Mine cost $130 total, including install.

I have a ractive on mine. My car is pretty loud (header no cats 2.5 inch pipe all the way to muffler). It annoys people, I think thats why I like the way it sounds so much. Even the guys on the harleys look at me crazy.

Mike, I'm curious about Magnaflow mufflers, which one did you get? I want to get a strait through type muffler, but I'm a little wary of the types available. Are all of Magnaflows strait through, or Chambered?

Magnaflow mufflers really suck. Everyone around here has them. After a while they start to crackle and sound bad. But i guess its all about your opinion. HKS and Greddy make the best exhaust. You get what you pay for. Expect more than 150 for a decent sounding muffler.

Hold mine up in the air and you can see completely through it, like a big freaking 3 inch hole in it LOL

I promise I will get some video soon, well as soon as I can get someone to hold the camera and a good straight strecth of road to run it on LOL

Oh yeah really, and why is it I have a friend with a Neon, that is all souped up with a TEC3 set up with the throttle bodies etc, and he has a complete exhaust with magnaflow mufflers, and it has been on there over a year and 1/2? I got several friends with them and no one has had SINGLE problem... Look at the quality of them, and compair, I did... Its the same thing with jeans and ****, look at Levi's and look at TH jeans, same damn thing, just freaking $30 more each pair... If anything the Levi's last longer...

It sounds cool for about 2 mins then gets real old real fast. I can't wait to get a real muffler on that thing. I'm also almost 100% sure that the cherry bomb is the reason that the car runs bad. Its definatly not made to be run on a rotary thats for sure. What does everyone suggest for a good replacement muffler? Don't say Racing Beat cause I don't have the money for that and if I did I wouldn't put it on this car. I know everyone says Monza sucks, but would it be good for a few years at least?

The Monza one will be fine, although that's not much of a bargain either.
