Question Muffler swap...

My friend and I are replacing my stock muffler witjh my new RB muffler. The only problem is that we can't get the old one out. It seems to be stuck and I was wondering if there is a good technique for getting it out.

Here are some pics just to help you understand what I'm talking about...

easy...there are 3 12mm bolts holding the muffler on besides the flange.

LOC:

2 @ near the top of the muffler/bottom of the bumper
1 @ the top of where the muffler curves all 12mm

Then if this is where your stuck....

You need to unbolt the Lower Watts link bar. YOU DONT HAVE TO REMOVE IT ! ! !

just remove the nut and the washers and push the arm out a bit then you should be able to manouver the pipe out of there... i think it was a clockwise rotation of the muffler and an upwards then downwards motion to remove it...

let me know what happens good luck....

btw, ive done 2 already.

ITS THAT LONG BAR THAT GOES ACCROSS THE REAR AND IS HELD BY A MOUNT ON EACH SIDE OF THE DIFF/PUMPKIN. JUST REMOVE THE 4 12MM BOLTS THERE ARE 2 ON EACH SIDE.

Hey...

Thanks so much for the help. I've got the muffler in, it sounds great, and I love it.

And also... sorry i couldn't get back earlier but I went to see 2Fast 2Furious. I felt like I was betraying all of my rx-7 friends here. oh well, the movie pretty much sucked. One of those movies where you end up feeling less fullfilled than before you saw it. hehe, enough rambling.

Last note: I found the sway bar even though I hadn't read what to look forwoohoo! So why were you saying that removing the sway bar will provide for more predictable handling?

Thanks

I can get that pic for you tomorrow. I'm only 16 so I can't be out past 11:00---BAH!

Otherwise, I'd go snap that pic for ya now. Also, what does the Watts Link Bar do?

Friendly FYI--Typing in caps is typically equated to SHOUTING. Thats why anyone that knows about the net doesn't type in caps unless they really want to get the point across.

IMHO I find it harder to read.

I have a real hard time at the caps thing, I am a drafter, so all the typing I do for work is with caps on, and whenever I am here (at this site) I am at work. Got to stay on the ball! Sorry to steal the thread for a second, you can have it back now!

Ok, I will. Won't be hard from the looks of things. What exactly does the sway bar do? I'm assuming it has something to do with the weight dispersion (or something), which effects handling around corners and stuff. That's all just a guess, I don't know anything about it.
