It will be really loud....Espically if you have a header. You really NEED a resonator, and a good muffler to keep the noise levels down. And make sure that you get a high quality muffler so that it doesnt burn up with the heat of the rotary engine.

I had a header into straight pipe into a burnt out glass-packed muffler, you don't want that trust me, get a good stainless and ceremic packed muffler. I had a friend of mine rev it for me when i was standing outside the car about 5ft from it, it was so loud it made my heart skip a beat and my ears to ring for the next 10 minutes afterwards.

Sounds like a plan.

2" piping should be used.

Sounds like a fuel issue if you can't even redline the car..

Oh yeah and i'm running RB header/presilencer with NO muffler and its freakin' loud (but oh so sweet throttle response!)
I'm thinking of taking an n1 style muffler, cutting it apart, and re-packing it with steel wool..

During the summer i tried repacking my muffler with stainless wool (it was fibreglass inside) made no difference AT ALL......

What kind of muffler was it?

I'll have to try something a little less than straight-through then.

it wont make a difference sound wise, but as far as life of the muffler is concerned
the SS will last longer

if it's a 3" pipe all the way back to a 3" edelbrock straight thru muffler, it'll be extremely loud; very little muffling would be going on.

a multi-chamber muffler will quiet it down more and add some restriction.

not to sound like a broken record but the racing beat header and dual presilencer into a 2.5" straight thru magnaflow muffler gave me very good power with reasonable sound muffling.

In a nutshell, I had that setup and had to lift when cop showed up; and there was a constant drone @ 80mph on the freeway. Some dynamat and a supertrapp end disc or pacessetter resonated dual exhaust tip woulda helped quiet it.

My setup consists of a RB header, 2-1/2" straight into a Hi-Flow Turbo II muffler (made by cherry bomb), then back to a 3.5" canon on the back. Without the silencer in its VERY loud! Outside AND inside. With the silencer in its drivable, but doesn't look as cool.

OMG you guys are hilarious. Get some steel wool, and hold a flame to it. That stuff frikin burns. If you want something to last more than 5 seconds dont use frikin steel wool. I do movie special FX and we use steel wool as a pyrotechnic. Using in a muffler straight up is a horrible idea... if you do it though video the tailpipe the first time you start it up. It will be hilarious.

I run an RB header to straight pipe to RB muffler - it's actually not that loud. People are surprised by how quiet it is.

I have a brand new RB presilencer, never put it on, if anyone's interested in buying it.

Sounds like no-one runs the RB muffler. Is their muffler in particular pretty restrictive?

totally right.

but you DON'T use STAINLESS steel wool as pyrotechnics, because it doesn't burn for diddly, that is why it's stainless, no oxydisation.

the cheapest, N1 style muffler i could find hehe.

4" tip, 18" length, 2.5" pipe. had it welded in place.

i dont care about the packing being melted, as long as it looks ok from the outside
