muffler?

I have a 1985 GSL-SE rx7 and right now I have a can on the car now but it is almost trashed out from the heat. I am looking for a good sounding muffler for my car. I was wondering what a good muffler would be for this car. I was looking at like a magnaflow muffler. I just want something with a good sound.

RacingBeat is good, but expensive. Anything with stainless steel packing should last, but a straight through muffler won't do much to quiet it down.

I was actually pretty impressed by my 5x8" oval Magnaflow's sound reduction capabilities. It was nearly as good as Jeff20B's Racing Beat universal muffler when we tested them side by side, but was like $30 cheaper. Not as pretty, though.

Magnaflows tend to have a bit sharper, more aggressive sound than Racing Beat mufflers, which are mellow and bassy. Both sound good, just depends on what sound you're looking for.

Borlas also have a nice tone (if a little buzzy under high load) and good sound reduction, but I remain less than impressed with the build quality given the price premium over comparable Magnaflows.

racing beat is the way to go. expensive, but a direct bolt on with a great sound that also has a long life. www.racingbeat.com

Racing Beat all the way! I just installed one on my SA sounds amazing. Plus cost could add up to about the same… some of those Magna Flows that are stainless with polished tips are in the ball park of $175-$230. Then you either have to have some fabrication skills or know someone to make the over axel pipe. That could bring it to around the same price as the Racing Beat

So which Magnaflow would bolt on best to my stock 83 GSL?

Hyperformance is using an Apexi N1 for his awesome almost 200 hp set-up. Any suggestions for the Apexi for me?

Hyper hasn't been using an N1 for a long time. He's got two Magnaflows now.
