Ok, I figure Im about due for some sort of ignition mod, so Ive decided to fork over the cash and get a capacitive discharge box over a 2GCDFIS or DLDFIS setup because I think the cdi box would be much more versatile and friendly to whatever mods I have to come. Im prety much set on a MSD 6A (unless someone can suggest something comparable). Now I think Ive got a handle on installing it, but my questions are: what kind of coils are the best to run with an MSD box? And where do you guys suggest I find one of these badboys up here in canada, preferably here in winnipeg? (they dont sell these at any ol' parts stores do they?) Also, just to clarify since Ive seen it both ways, I wire the coils in series rather than paralel, correct? thanks.

I'd suggest Blaster 2 Coils to go with it. I have the coils, but not the box (bought it like this, working on getting everything else fixed before I up the performance any more), and they're strong as hell. I was checking to make sure that I was getting spark on my leading and trailing plugs, grounded my neck on my a-pillar while reaching through the window to turn the key, and my neck muscles were spasming for a couple of minutes. After i pulled that I made sure that my neck wasn't touching the a-pillar, and tried again (didn't see spark the first time because of the shock), and i'll be damned, my knee was on the door. They're crazy strong, it hurt worse than the time I got hit with 120V AC @ 60Hz (deadliest combination of electricity voltage and modulation). Check out rx7.com, rx7store.net, or something like Jegs. There is a writeup in the archives about how to install the box and wire everything up.

try using the stocker coils, see how it works. ive heard multiple stories of the blaster 2 coils failing, specially on our engines where they arent really meant to work at high rev's.

here in texas you can find them at autozone and pepboys. i have super stock accels from autozone and crane cams from victoria british. i prefer crane cams. no reason but they both work better than stock and arent that much.

get the msd 6a, and the coil pack setup hyper4mance2k suggested. it will work beautiuflly. or, do as i did with my turbo setup and rock the msd thru the distributor cap. i'm using the accel super coil for the leading. the difference was indescribable (sp?). when i floor it my air fuels dip below 10's and it doesnt sputter one bit. only the initial blip from opening the secondaries, but that's a lean spot. and i have proof of all this in my vids. so you know it works. the 2gdfis did not work anywhere near this good or to what i needed.

so... that's the power of the msd and a good coil setup...... thru the cap no less!

thank you FB II now this through the cap I dont understand, are you basically using an msd box as an igniter running off the magnetic pickup? Is there an advantage of the arc in the distributor over a direct fire setup? or is there a reason you do this because the car has a turbo? deeetails haha..
