MSD trigger? Ignitor or Distributor Pick-up?
I scored a couple of MSD 6's on Ebay and I see MSD shows to hook them up directly to the existing coil leads with the red and white wires on a Mazda Rotary but this will leave the ignitors in the process and I'm trying to eliminate possible problems. MSD also alows going straight to a magnetic pick-up distributor output using the MSD purple and violet wires. I would rather do it that way.
Can anyone verify that this is a good idea or not. By the way it's on an GSL-SE if it matters.
Thanks
Vernon

Can anyone say wheter or not doing the same for the trailing side would cause any problems on the fuel injection? It sences RPM from the trailing coil neg terminal.

Thanks that site will be read thoroughly, I just happened to have an extra blaster performance coil also since it was part of the dual MSD Ebay deal. This may be the way I go. I don't think I can blow this motor up due to excessive RPM.
Just after I posted I realized that MSD was an hour behind me and I still had time to call them. The tech told me that in order to run both the leading AND trailing boxes off the magnetic pick-ups in the distributer I would have to install an MSD tach adapter to signal the EGI for RPM. (In stock form it's triggered off the trailing coil neg lead.) It's MSD part #8920. If I ran the trailing in the regular way where the MSD box is triggered off the ignitor the tach adapter isn't needed. Again since the leading has nothing to do with the EGI it doesn't matter.
By the way replacement magnetic trigger leads (wire harness) is part# 8860.
