MSD Blaster Question again haha,

we might be setting a record for msd related threads on one page here

anyways i plan on buying the msd blaster2's tomorrow, cause i can't get my ******* car started in the mornings, it works fine if i push start it though. I already know i have really weak spark, im going to try the coils first, then i swap out ingnitors when i get home...anyways question is:

they make the msd blasters made for the msd ignition, and a stock ignition, obviously i know i have the stock ignition but what is the difference between the two coils actually??? Reason is that i have two of the msd ignition blaster2 coils in stock where i work...but i have to order the others. Anybody know the real difference??

There's Blaster 2 coils for MSD ignition only, and then there's Blaster 2 coils for stock ignition. That's the difference. Don't know the real internal difference, only that the stock ones get their signal from the ignitors, and the MSD from the MSD box. Then there's Blaster 3, which is only for MSD ignition.

i bought the regular msd blaster 2 coils, later I added the msd 6a which then I had to get a third coil for direct fire.

P.S. you have troubles starting your car, coils probably won't help. Oddly enough my car starts better with high octane gas.

you mentioned a weak spark..... how is your dizzy/rotor? Wires and new plugs make all the difference in the world.

well, ive never tried higher octcane gas. wires are racing beat ultra plug wires, last time i tested them they were good, and the plugs are brand new, although i am using 2nd gen plugs instead of the br8eq-14 or whatever they are. I replaced cap and rotor about 6 months ago, right before sevenstock. So you think coils are a no go?

So what would be your suggestion after coils....bottom line im getting some weak spark.

how strong is your battery?
where is your timing set?

i'd use the stock plugs until i got everything sorted out. i used Gen II plugs a few times and they work fine until you flood them once, then it seemed to me that they just turned to crap. may have just been my experience though ...

One type of coil comes with a resistor thing for points style ignitions, the other doesnt.
